The people at the southern air temple aren't air benders they are air acolytes. They follow all the traditions of air nomads. This season is essential for Korra and her growth for the rest of the series. I never once felt Korra was annoying the first half of the season. I understand fully where she is coming from. Korra wants to be the Avatar, but shes been locked up, and now she's realizing she has been lied to her entire life by the people she's supposed to trust the most. You got people telling her how she can't do things so now she put her trust in her uncle who seems to truly believe she can be the Avatar. Not to mention she's still a teen with the weight of the entire world on her shoulders. Korra is a flawed character much like Zuko was, but I like that. To me it makes her feel more real. Don't worry Korra will grow. She has the best character development in the show imo.

Korra's struggles are understandable, she has not taken back her maturity imo. She is a teen and when she was at her lowest, her powers were given back to her right away, she did not have time to reflect on her mistakes that much, there is only a couple of months between Amon and this if I remember correctly. And the added frustration of no one trusting her, her dad and Tenzin keep trying to make decisions on her behalf, Mako siding with her dad, being counted on for every little thing as the Avatar, etc. Very well written and realistic imo.

“She’s the next avatar”. You realize Korra’s STILL ALIVE right? For a new avatar to be born, the most recent one has to be in the process of dying, there could not be two alive avatars at the same time.

That is the point of Korra asking for Mako's advice and hm saying I don't know. As Korra said she is used to people telling her what to do, she herself has no confidence in her decisions and therefore try seeking it from other people. Hence, even when she has already thought of something, she still seeks it from others hoping they would give the same answer as hers. When that does not happen, she gets upset. Basically her upbringing of being jailed 24/7 without any outside world interaction is what has caused her to behave like this. Comparing this to Aang, he had already travelled the world even before the series actually started. So, basically less than 11 years old and hence has the worldly knowledge

You guys are my favorite reactora to react to this show bc you are understand. Nobody "sees" both sides. Most people hate korra in this season bc of her actions but nobody stops to think that her actions make sense. 1) woth mako and korra, she has never been in a relationship before and was locked up for 17 years with no social skills. Obviously she is gonna have rocky starts in relationships and not do that well with them and cone off as a little toxic. 2) with tenzin and her dad she found out that the two people she felt like she could trust the most in this world lied to her, her entire life. They lied and said aang kept her locked up at the south pole. But really it was tenzin and her dad's decision. Then after that tenzin pretty much did the same thing in republic city. He just lengthened the leash a little bit. So she has ever right to be angry with them and pick unalaq as a mentor. But when people watch this they just hate on korra and dont evem try and act like they are in her shoes.

my issue with this book is the spirits themselves. all the dark spirits you've seen so far (though it's like 4 or 5 if them) are just Black shadows, they don't really have any definition. in AtLA when Heibai got angry he got bigger and turned more monstrous, but he still had colour and definition and an actual shape

The most important information we can pick up from this episode is the fact that there are snow camels WHICH IS COMPLETELY TRUE! They are no fantasy and live in at least in northern parts of China closer to mountains where winter temperatures are very from -30° C at day to -50° at night! Those camels have 2 humps unlike those in Egypt. Also the city of Harbin is located in this region where most famous biggest ice fairy-tale city is build every year ( yes that exact one). This makes this camel at 00:35 probably most realistic animal in entire Avatar franchise ( Earth king's bear in ATLA lives in palace and wear clothing, you'd much rarely find that in real world ) *Obviously whole character growth or plot in the show is nothing but nice addition to such fabulous fact*

I know what they were going for writing wise, but watching it back it does feel more apparent when they miss on Korras delivery. I think it has to do how they don’t have other characters match her energy. It goes from 0 to 100, with other hard headed characters like Toph shes rounded out with being effective at her job, but Korra is the main character and is learning and has to fumble. So when it’s coupled with her attitude as a viewer it can get frustrating. But it’s 2 episodes in and there’s plenty of time for growth. I had the same anger, but this season surprisingly ended up being my second favorite of the whole show. So I’m interested to see how you guys react to the rest!

In my opinion, Korra is completely justified. I agree that this season of TLOK is the weakest, but these are still the avatar writers, and I think how they constructed the season makes complete sense. For me these early episodes can be difficult to watch because as a viewer, I can already tell how some things will go due to foreshadowing. I can already see that Korra shouldn't put so much trust in Unalaq, and I can see that she should stay close to Tonraq and Tenzin because they genuinely want to help. But if you try to see it from Korra's perspective, her decisions make sense & she doesnt have all the info that we as viewers have. Imo, the worst aspect of this season is all the relationship drama. Some of it makes sense, but especially Bolin's endeavors are troubling. His relationship with Esna is clearly abusive and I feel like its written to be funny (and the way it's portrayed is funny a lot of the time), but it's actually a serious topic. Having said all that, Im so excited to see your reactions to later episodes of s2 and especially s3 once we get there!!

You guys are ignoring the real issues because you like certain characters. They were being attacked when her dad was around because he already angered them. Mako didn't trust her judgement before, he was very much in agreement with everyone else and telling her what to do. When she finally ASKED for his opinion on it, he didn't give one because of selfish reasons. Everyone is telling her what's best for her, unsolicited, then the one time she actually asks for an opinion or help, they don't give it. How many times does everyone needs to make decisions for her and tell her she's wrong (when none of them have been right) before she's allowed to be fed up?

My issue with Korra is mainly that she keeps snapping at people who genuinely care about her. No one in the show is perfect, and I don't expect her to be but if they had toned down some of her anger, her legit frustrations might have translated better. Any annoyance that the audience feels with her character in these early episodes is warranted in my opinion. Thankful for her growth in later episodes.

@@hinatashoyo1748 honestly I still don't get how nickelodeon could be so stupid to pull down a sequel to one of their biggest success in audience and rating.
