TGM3 GM in Under One Hour (WR)

This run was streamed live at / aur9 - I don't stream very often but it's where you can find me playing invis occasionally :)
RTA to GM is one of the most difficult categories in the entire TGM series. At its highest level, it demands the player to hold an extremely high level of play for almost an hour, where a misdrop that slows you down by a few seconds will make a previously fantastic run dead in the water in the blink of an eye. With the recent introduction of roll skip tech, the end of every game is an invisible mad dash to the 6 grade finish line, where you can easily be tripped up and risk missing a game.
This is why RTA to GM is one of the most interesting categories to me. It's been a lot of (frustrating) fun getting the world record under an hour, and perhaps I'll even go for a sub 55 minute time someday.

The explaination at the bottom is sick - one question, why do you seppuku 3-4 times at the beginning?

you only need 4/7 of your previous runs to be MM/MM+ for promo exam so it's a significant time save to seppuku the first 3 and get all MM/MM+ on the latter 4

hi xeal! this is because of two things: 1. tgm3 only gives promotional exams when you have 7 games in your history (it will give the exam based off of the average of your 2nd, 3rd, 4th best games) 2. rolling a promo exam is a 1/3 per game when conditions are met having a history of [MM] [MM] [MM] [MM] [9] [9] [9] does satisfy the conditions needed to get a promo exam, but if I do not immediately roll it, I have to play another MM game. if I don't, my history becomes [MM] [MM] [MM] [9] [9] [9] [9], which will not give me the MM promo exam (you are required to be promoted to MM before you can be promoted to GM) however, if my history is [9] [9] [9] [MM] [MM] [MM] [MM], I can reroll 3 times if needed, as I'm only knocking the 9s out of my history without needing to play any more long games than I need to
