With a whip, a nightmare. With Salamander + Mars, not so much. Screen crunch for days. Machine Tower was a hell to get through with blind jumps and everything knocking me off the platforms.

Cotm was actually a pretty decent game. Not my favorite by any means, but it's difficulty is probably what i liked most, very resembling of the 1st generation games. 8/10

Replayability-wise, it doesn't get many points aside from the various classes you unlock by replaying it. As much as I hated it's sequel at first, now i'm starting to realize that hod had a lot of replayability value. Oh and classic Simon ftw.

To beat Dracula in this game, I had to specifically go back and find the DSS card (Uranus) that lets you summon monsters... which is only dropped by Scary Candles found in one room of the game... in an out-of-the-way boss room that you already cleared hours ago... and the Scary Candles don't show up until you're like 60% of the way through the game... and the candles are annoying to grind... and the Uranus card is a very rare drop from them... and you'd never know the card was there without a walkthrough. I enjoy this game, but geez, that was some seriously awful design.

My favorite of your arrangements castlevania TGMagus. Circle of the Moon was my first handheld Castlevania game, and the music was appealing to me. When I first arrived at the Chapel Tower it was a powerful tune even for the GBA. You have enhanced the flavor of this piece, and thos was one of the last tracks I would have expected to have an arrangement done, and right.

Bear in mind that everything I say is relative to other CV games; the game is serviceable but as a Metroidvania I feel it's bland. I personally don't like the overly large sprites, zoomed in camera, extremely strange colour palate (too bright for CV IMO); the castle is too big with horrendously placed warp points and unnecessary padding with how often you have to cross half the map in one go. There's also the horrendous animation. I personally don't like the spammy dashing, but I do know people on reddit who appreciate that sort of thing. Combat still has the sub weapon system which isn't suited to Metroidvania style CVs as it's based on a difficult to replenish resource (the heart system, unlike say the Missles in Metroid games which are in plentiful supply and have recharge points). It also has the clunkiness of the whip and unlike CotM (which is designed to be an old-style CV with Metroidvania elements) has no justification for it (in fact, it's worse as you can't air steer whilst in the whip animation unlike future installments and CotM). The Spell system is... ok (better than DSS for sure) but it certainly gets completely outranked by the Soul system. Finally, the story is only average whereas CotM has rival and AoS has arguably the best story in the entirety of the CV series. The atmosphere of other GBA CVs are better (CotM is much darker but looks really good if you're not playing on the original GBA and AoS is sexy graphically in general [insert Soma walk animation]).
