Am excited to see where Moonstone is going with its storytelling. I feel with the Merfolk you could probably have their rulers sort of forbid dealing with the surface dwellers on land (at this point in time), but have a subfaction of them attempt small surface runs to steal moonstones and other trinkets (perhaps secretly done by a merfolk priesthood). As far as how they could do it, Crusty Balboa shows one such option with riding things like crabs and octopuses, but you could also go all out with various means to move with things like magical movement, Merfolk tech or even various magically animated creations made from coral or shipwrecks. Heck, larger models could be things like an magic golem made of seaweed, shells and coral.

Would love to see a Merfolk faction, maybe specifically designed for water combat. A bit niche, but maybe try a Kickstarter to gauge interest? "People" would have said nobody wanted faeries until Tom was the man to make it after all!
