just a few thoughts, THAAD should be compared to the S500 as they are both for the same role. Hyper-sonic missiles can not be tracked by radar, they create a plasma barrier as they fly that hides them. ballistic missiles are tracked in the stage of the flight outside the atmosphere where there is no plasma barrier, this works great with simple warheads, but missiles with a warhead that can change course are not easy targets. the software is as important as the hardware, we saw in Ukraine when the hymars were used, in the beginning the S400 had problems, but once the software had been updated with the right flight data they are now stopping nearly all hymars missiles.
