Shiv Batalavi is perhaps the greatest poet of Punjab after Waris Shah. He passed away in 1973. Punjab Govt took nearly 50 years to build a very small/modest stadium in his honour after fans kept demanding year after year. He wrote in vernacular language, Punjabi. Had he chosen hindi or urdu, he would have been an internationally acclaimed figure. Punjab, sadly, did not give him the honour he deserved.

I may disagree with your opinion. Amar singh chamkila was equally good poet and writer. He was way ahead of his time and only wrote on the present scenarios. People didn’t like him cos his words pinched the society and their practices.
