A very moving story that brought tears to my eyes, i recently was in a scenario where i helped a Thai bar lady for 14 months until i was hit financially, i encouraged her to apply for 4 different jobs and not bar work but she didn't want to leave the bar as she always said that she can make more money at the bar??. Its never easy to be in love with a bar lady knowing what they must do to make extra money ... I was cash strapped for a few weeks but she made it very clear that she's been touching customers and vice versa to make extra money and said that she'll move on because i can't help her financially! We parted our separate ways ... However in Apple's situation she stood by his man. So I've decided never to fall in love with a Thai bar woman again and i met a beautiful school teacher in a rural area. I can understand and appreciate the difficulties a lot of the Thai women endure if they don't have a college degree 😢

Jeez, even when the Thai girl really had legitimate love and affection for this fellow, his obsession with her still managed to kind of destroy his life for some time. Scary stuff... But thank god everything turned out okay eventually. I was feeling like he'd been rather un-grateful and shitty toward apple, but then at the very end everything finally worked out. I have been to Thailand for about 12 years and I use the PAYG process... Pay as you go.... nothing more nothing less. Always tell them I am a butterfly... and if they still want to hang out its "up to them" which is one of the most common phrases in Thailand "Up to You"

Awesome story mate, felt a bit sad that they didn't end up together at the end but it must have been a special last meeting for them. I personally was a bit of a regular in a small beer bar in Chiang Mai, I would go there for holiday a couple of times a year. My mate that I usually travelled with would buy the girls lady drinks etc often but not take them home or anything. We had a drama one recent trip when my ATM card wouldn't work and my mate had lost his wallet when it fell out of his pocket in a tuk tuk while a bit tipsy one night. We couldn't get access to cash at all and were in a bit of strife. Anyway, one of the girls from the bar offered 10,000 baht to help us. We ended up sorting it out with the bank after the Songkran holiday finally finished and the banks reopened but the gesture meant a lot to us. Not as good as your story but just another example. :)

The Theremea, now you would have loved the original Theremea complex that vanished in the early 90s. Reputedly owned by the police pension fund and so untouchable. Comprised of a gents barbers shop, the best value for money massage parlor, even had on the top floor a training school so all the girls knew their job. There’s an old horror movie called Hostel. It’s a film about the elite rich paying to torture backpackers in Europe. Near the climactic scene, the main character is brought to the torture site and asks a Japanese guy what goes on in there. Back in 2006-7 I saw this happen 3 times. In each case the guy was in his late 20s or early 30s. Two of the girls were freelancers and one had a good job doing graphic design. All 3 guys eventually bounced back financially. The guy that was with the girl who had a job ended up marrying her and they now live in the US. The other two remain good friends with the freelancer girls that took care of them. One guy is still in Thailand and the other has returned to his home country. In my opinion, this sort of thing only happens when the guy is in his 20s or 30s. I'm also of the opinion this would be less likely to happen today, at least with a bar girl. In 2006 it was right at the tail end of the good old days when the girls were not nearly as hardened. It was in a time of transition, so some were still old school and others were not. Anyone who first started coming to Thailand from around 2008 will only have heard stories about how the girls used to be, so it probably won't surprise you that I'm curious what time frame this story happened. :-)

Think about it like this. You make a lot of money and someone who makes a lot more money spends it all on you. Then that person gets into hard times, but you know they will be able to rise up. What do you do? Invest in the future or kick them to the curve. I believe number one would be the best option, even if you're only ofter the money. Small investment for a possibly great future. Great story I had a very similar experience where I came back to Thailand to see a girl with 9000 baht in my pocket. I notice when I use to go to Pattaya there were bands in some bars.They worked long hours.Also each set went for well over an hour.I 'm pretty certain the pay would be extremely low.I suppose it might be fun if you really like the band scene and willing to rehearse.Also need to have a working visa sorted out and have some decent bank savings.
