My visa agent said to be safe just keep the balance about 800K at all times.

Ben, my experience with Pathumthani immigration requires a minimum 800k TB for 6 months following O visa renewal AND a 12 month bank statement and bank book showing the balances have not dropped below 800K for the two months prior to visa renewal. At visa renewal they stapled a notice in my passport with the dates to present both: the first one at 3 months and the second one at 6 months. They have now began to ask for monthly deposits into my bank account to prove the account balance as if the bank statement is insufficient. My Thai wife has argued that successfully so far as being redundant.

I have a feeling that they want foreign Thai residents to deposit their money into their Thai banks account to tax this money later as their foreign income. If I was a Thai tax resident I would rather transfer money into my Wise account and pull them from ATMs instead so that they do not bother me with their tax nonsense. Probably, they have noticed that people stopped transferring money into their Thai banks accounts from abroad and now they try to force them into doing it 🤔

In the past before the British Embassy stopped issuing income guarantee letters I renewed my Retirement non-o visa with a mix of income and money in a Thai Bank account. After that I just made up my Bank Balance to 800.000 baht and left it there all year. I never had any problems with either way.

you can take money out of a 800,000 retirement visa , but you have to make it back to 800,000 3 months before your yearly renewal they dont ask for anything on your 90 check as long as you have not moved

For whatever reasons I was able to get a bank account as a tourist around 1998. This year I am going to retire in Thailand with a non immigrant O visa issued from the Thai Royal Embassy in Bern. In order to extend my O visa when I will be there in Thailand I wonder if I need to make an international transaction with 800k or is ok with the money that already stay in my thai bank that I have been feeding during my travels as a tourist ?

If my wife and I are retired, 50+ and no longer working in 2024, and are wanting to move from the US and get a retirement visa in Thailand in 2025 will the new Thai tax laws tax the 800K baht per person brought in to put in a thai bank account to secure the visa?

To me, now that the vague tax proposal is out. Its an indication that they want you to dump the 800,000 in their bank so they can tax it in the future perhaps. Just a thought. Everything is so vague there really. I think i will keep my funds in my bank of choice and just bounce in and out.

My experience, It's 800,000 2 months before your first application and 3 months after, For the second year and thereafter, It's 800,000 3 months before and 3 months after your application, and no lower 400, And my documents and statements were checked 3 times by 3 different officer's 😁

Thanks ben,all this duking and diving,maintaining balance,taking money out puting it back,you are sacrficing intrest to borrow your own money ,also leaving yourself wide open to questions,i got caught some years ago,only took out the anual intrest,bank closed the account and opened a new one,no probs.they said,find 10,000, at immigration,because it was a new account,also where did the money come from?best to make a will leaving the 800,000 to your spouse and forget about it,regards.oh,fogot to mention accrued intrest,can mount up over the years.

If you are over 50 years old and you have 800,000 put in a Thai bank account and never allow it to dip below 400,000, then you're good. But to be safe, get your bank account back up to 800K before you renew your visa. To be super safe, have your balance to 800k 3 months prior to renewing.

Pay an agent for the first year. They take care of the 800K. For annual renewals after that just make sure u deposit 65K a month into your Thai bank account. Too easy man😂
