As a Thai, I'm fine with his take on Larb Tod ( fried meatballs ) yes, it can be any kind of meat, but using Lamb is interesting because the meat itself have diffrent texture, taste and smell that's why it's fine with all the seasoning and ingredients, though, the sauce on the other hand, we don't roast the cooked rice, we use ground rice to make it and to incorporated in the meatballs which it gives the crunchy texture. These meatballs are perfect with some chilled beers !

Nonsense - the only thing needing prep there was the rice, the stuff in jars, and the ground meat. You don't need to take everything and make them all pretty on a table and extra plates first. I go straight from fridge, veg under the faucet and onto the cutting board, into the pan, onto the serving plates. Jarred stuff, out of the fridge/cupboard, spoon out, and back to its storage place. I could easily make all that within 15 minutes. I would be immediately rinsing any tools used as I go like knives, graters and spoons, bowls and they go directly in the drying rack as I go along. Maybe 5 minutes to wash the pans and dishes used. If you quaff all that in 5 minutes, that's your waste - I like to savor my food and enjoy the smells, textures and flavors.

Naming this dish Thai-Style Meatballs is very honest and appropriate. Perhaps I'm just too poorly educated when it comes to Thai cuisine, but I just couldn't pinpoint which Thai dish this was. Some said it was fishcakes, others said it was Laab Tod. Also, the meatballs looked more like seared mini burger patties. However, the actual problem was of course the fish sauce. The fact that fish sauce is salty is so commonly known that either Gordon's culinary expertise contains forgotten secrets about sour fish sauce or he just misspoke. That being said, naming it meatballs made in Thai style is rather thoughtful in contrast to claiming it to be Laab Tod, Thai fishcakes, or other Thai traditional dishes. The name is accurate as to what it is, therefore honest to viewers and respectful to actual traditional Thai dishes that served as its inspirations.
