Awesome VLOG! I probably liked it so much because I can see myself doing this exact same trip next year when I retire and move to Thailand, probably in the Jomtien Beach area. I have my backpack and I have been looking at the Merino wool apparel. Been riding a motorcycle for over 40 years. Seemed like a dream that might not come true and then today it was announced quarantines are going away soon!! Just got off work, came home, caught your video, perfect timing. Thanks Kevin.

Absolutely fantastic beginning to a great adventure! Will definitely be looking forward to your epic road trip! If life were to offer a do-over, this is the type of life I would lead after my 50th. I am sure that the back roads are just as safe in Thailand as they are anywhere here in Canada...just have to keep your wits and be sensible. Just don't bump into a rouge elephant! 😉 I'd say for $28 you got yourself a great place for the night...you should see what that gets you here...like nothing!! 😁 Stay safe and keep well now...Bruce and Otis

Curious in your top-case on back of motorbike it looked like your laptop/computer was on the bottom of your backpack. If it is I suggest you cushion it with something because I have a 125cc scooter and I carry my laptop in my GIVI top-case on the back, but going over bumps & R/R tracks it needed more cushioning- OR if possible flip your backpack upside down from the way you had it. Your adventure took you on some gnarly back roads…google lol

Really good shake down trip! I forget who I was watching, but some channel said Waze was more accurate than Google Maps in Mexico. Maybe Thailand has a better map app. I just got back from a 5 day trip with only a backpack. It was way too full and heavy. It was hard to find things without unpacking everything. I skipped going to a museum because the coat room was closed and the bag was too bulky to continue carrying (I was between lodgings). Several people gave me things, and I ended up mailing a box home. I thought Rick Steves and Kevin would not approve! 🤣 I could use a better backpack and dial in my wardrobe.

Great video. Of course a few questions. 😃 How did the bike handle with the larger box and full pack? Have you looked into some of the ultralight backpacking technology to lighten your load and downsize your backpack? I know you have your laptop, but some of the ultralight materials like dyneema (Cuben fiber), which is used to make sails for sail boats so it’s very light and strong, gives very strong, smaller backpack options. I noticed the bike lines, how easy is it to bike around Thailand? Thanks and have fun!
@30AndAWakeUp3 жыл бұрын
It's actually lighter than my other one. But I havent noticed a difference. I love my nomatic backpack, so i cant see myself trading it. Thailand is a motorbike culture, so it's easy to motorbike here.
