Thailand's $1.50 2nd Class TRAIN Experience - BETTER than first class?

We try out what could be the CHEAPEST train ride ever! A 2 hour train ride on a 2nd class coach from Chiang Mai to Lampang that only cost us 50 baht a ticket ($1.50 USD) We were really impressed with Thailand’s railway service and facilities. We know that Thailand provides serious value for money but does it get any better than this! We had super comfortable seats, AC, loads of luggage space, electrical charging ports and a million dollar view!
What surprised us the most was that the seats could be even cheaper if you did not want the AC and preferred the fan.
We are so excited to share our train journey with you and FINALLY explore a different part of Thailand. Get ready for some adventuring!

Love that swivel chair. The price is such a bargain, For perspective, the Napa Valley (California) wine train will cost you $465 a person, though you do get a meal and a couple wine tastings. But that is big bucks!

I live in Thailand and love train travel. I have been on this train before. It's a long-distance express train consisting of 2nd class air-conditioned seating coach diesel railcars. Before the pandemic, they also served food and beverages on board. For a longer journey, I recommend you take a 1st class or 2nd class air-conditioned sleeping car in an express train. It's very comfortable.

I travel in trains whenever and wherever I can. I do a lot of it in India, my country. I travel in the trains quite a lot in Thailand. I travel by trains in Malaysia too. I find the train travel atmosphere in Thailand much more cleaner and elegant. The costing is by and large the same in all the countries I travelled in by trains! 👍

In the 1980s I twice took the train from Seoul to Taegu in South Korea. It actually looked much like the car on your train. The seats where comfortable and every so often a person would come by with cart selling drinks and snacks. The view was great.

For northern line express train number 7&8 From chiangmai to denchai They reduce the ticket price Combine other train with second & third class in rapid &express Srt set the price is so cheap but if you take longer than denchai the price is different and they have food service combine ticket price only train number 7&8 Anyway most thai passenger call this train is sprinter but fact srt have 2 type sprinter & daewoo Enjoy your railway trip

Good video. Just subscribed to your channel. Same like in Australia, not many people travel by train. Most people will either drive or fly in Australia. @@ShevandDev that is the cheap and quick option for driving into London, it can take up to 3 hours for a 50km drive and when you get there you have to pay 680thb to enter and for a days parking it will cost 1200thb at least, if you can find anywhere near your work!

2nd class is quite nice. We accidentally booked third class once on an overnight train from Bangkok to Krabi. We had to sit completely upright on wooden benches with no fans even. It was one of the worst nights ever lol! We can't wait to try a first class train when we get back next summer! Can't wait to see your Lampang videos!

We went to Surat Thani from Bangkok a month ago and it only cost us $40 USD for 2nd class however what was to be an 11 hour train ride turned into a 16 hour train ride 😩😩. And it was packed with a much different layout than yours haha (no social distancing). It was quite an experience and we're glad we did because like you mention the train takes you places thru Thailand you would never normally get to see by vehicle or plane. How long does it take to take the train from Chiang Mai to Lampang? Next time I’m in Chiang Mai I’m thinking of taking the train there, get a hotel and getting a taxi to a golf course that I’ve never been to in Mae Moh, that is on a mountain overlooking a clay lignite mine.

Just for information ,The train you took has no fans area and the fare is the same in every seat on the train ,those fans are only for back up if the A/C failed. Also you are just happened to be on an unrefurbished train car ,If you are lucky you could get a train with newer seats and no rattling A/C for the same price😂 Anyway, good vids👍🏻 Edit : Just checked the number of the train car(2127) and realized that I sat in the exactly same car with rattling A/C four days ago ,we are equally unlucky🤣

In Thailand, Royal Thai Government Cabinet resolution on 1985 for control railway price. 3rd Class is cheapest and open air. 2 nd Class and 1 st class are so good. I ever sit on the train from Bangkok to Chumpon (The first door and first province to South Regional in Kingdom of Thailand) for use trains similar for you use. I call that DAEWOO Train because they trains are DAEWOO Company in South Korea manufactures. In Thailand, Railway have 3 Class by service and price and 7 classifications by necessitous, long time and give service, transport and travel (์Normally/Originally, Rapid, Express, Special Express, Commuter, Local and Excursion (Emphasize pass historical and travel)). In this VDO call that Express train. It is confortable and normal time will be food for eat between travel and transport on train. Special Express is highest time for travel, highest price and full service.
