The story about Nok touched close to home. I met my wife when she was just about to turn 20 and I was 61. I felt the same way that the huge age gap would prevent any decent relationship from ever working so I was always thinking of us as being together for a few days or weeks at the most. But one thing led to another and more than 7 years later we are still together and very happy. I felt very sorry for Nok because she was a little like my wife who was shy but looking for love and kindness while experiencing a difficult life. She was attracted to me for some reason I did not understand at the time but which I now know after all these years. When you show genuine kindness to a girl and expect nothing in return then sometimes the age gap problem vanishes in their eyes. My darling wife tells me that she could never be in love with a younger man her age and that she is happy being my partner but she is scared that I will be gone one day. This will eventually happen because it is highly likely that I will pass on before she does. I wonder if the guy in your story actually pushed an angel away, one that could have made him very happy for many years.

The girls here are brilliant actors. They can cry over nothing. Professional swindlers. The bar girls can make you believe anything if you are vulnerable and naive enough.

A heck of a comeback Peter. Salute. Your assessment on the first two was what I was thinking as well. On the third story, poor guy. It happens, and I’ve been there, albeit with a much narrower age gap. Spent almost a decade all together with the woman. Looking back it seemed like the universe conspired to push us together despite both of us not really looking for love or a relationship in the first place. Neither of us saw each other in that way for many months, and then one day it turned out we were the last to know we were into each other. It’s good he was straight up with her, and you never know what another decade may bring. I too beat myself up over it for several years. Eventually, though you both get older and realize that these things do happen and you have to forgive yourself for such affairs of the heart.

As to story number three, I am now 70 years old and for the last thirty years I can't seem to help flirting with the youngest most beautiful girls. And many of them have responded. But then, when it starts looking like something might actually happen, I always back away. I just chalk it up to some kind of ego sickness on my part. I just want to see if I can. Great stories Peter just watched the video in udon thani been in Thailand 2 months my budget was 2k sterling I am at 4k spent already travelling by plane is expensive tried saving money on the train but a nightmare if you don't book in advance, got the sleeper train from udon thani to Bangkok 900 baht 2 nd class got to Bangkok to go to Chiang Mai no trains seats available for 3 days took a taxi 6000 baht to Chiang Mai should just have flown so any body wanting to travel by rail make sure you have booked all connecting trains I didn't realise transport in Thailand is so busy

Yes, agree.....sounds like she is a lovely girl & he is a gentleman; they really liked each other & neither of them hurt each other. Looks to me like she felt a little rejected at the end which is understandable but no reason for him to feel he did anything wrong. What's pretty sure is that he couldn't have had an experience like that in Wales & I hope he returns to experience other real, human interactions. Thailand is a place where unexpected things happen...and I like that about it.

A few years ago I was waiting in the queue at the BTS ticket office so I could buy a ticket. Suddenly someone behind me tapped my on the shoulder and said "Hi" and said my name. I was surprised and turned around but there was noone there any more because she must have scooted away quickly. It must have been one of the gogo dancers I took out years before yet she STILL remembered me. I was really glad my wife was not with me because that would have been impossible to explain. Those girls have VERY long memories. They remember your face and your name. That sort of thing happened to me a few times several years ago. I never play around since being in a real relationship.

The age gap is a big deal in Thailand ? in the philippine's it really don't matter at all. i have lived in the Philippines a few times years at a time. my first time there ... was a retired American that lived next door who was 67and had ((4 ))teenage to 20ish aged girls living with him lol. i recall chatting with him about it at my birthday party. he said they are all washed out bar girls. who got in fights with other girls and got fired or just hated the work and left. and he took them in , and he was on the look out for 1 or 2 more LOL

Let me go catch up with him, and the four of us can meet up for lunch tomorrow!"... and see how she reacts. When a girl, any girl, says "he's just a friend" without sayings his name, run, don't walk away. They think they are being slick, but it's not fooling anyone unless they are dumber than a brick, or just blinded by infatuation. She's better off just saying... "Oh, that's Mike from x, y or z (work, school, old neighbor, parent's friend's kid/relative, etc)."
