Stopped to comment 3 minutes in. I've done a few forge welds. Watched a ton of videos. Even Mark Aspery who while did a great job, somehow I missed the convex reasoning. That just made so much simple and should have been obvious sense, but I missed that. THANKS for being dead clear on the why of that.....

Glad it helped you out. It's almost easier to convey an idea like that on a chalkboard than it is with a piece of steel.

Very unique how you came up with the 2 spurs on the business end of this poker. Lots of technique and style to be gleaned from this video. I appreciate your effort and look forward to the remainder of your beginner series. Thank you and fare thee well

@@ThakIronworks I started making holes for mounting hooks with the drill press. Then I got into using punches which would quickly lose their temper and become disfigured. So then I got into heating and straightening and making punches. Then hardening and tempering. That was all straightforward but I still had a hard time punching thinner stock. It'd lose it's heat to quickly. So I ended up making the anchor points for the hooks thicker. I would upset that end and hammer down to no less than 1/4". That way the stock would hold its heat long enough for me to punch a mounting hole. As you can tell this is an amateur process and I'd like to see how a seasoned pro would deal with this. Thanks.
@ThakIronworks5 жыл бұрын
Drill press... haha, but from a practical standpoint, I wouldn't punch it as it is much easier to drill. However, if I was going to punch it, your approach is good, I would build a specific bolster block with the appropriate size hole to make the process more efficient.

Simple projects that sell well are also kfs (knife fork spoon) sets and little sword letter openers and bottle openers or cork screws and also lead earrings or necklaces or horseshoe rings. Just some ideas. Awesome work you were my inspiration even when we fought in old s hoo buildings with rattan weapons lol
