Important to note Richard Harris developed this plan to help rescue the boys. He’s both a very experienced anaesthetist and cave diver. Absolutely incredible rescue and they are all very lucky to have this help.

During a medical procedure they continuously administer medication to keep you out. The drugs they used for this operation would last for about 45 minutes while the trip to the outside was 3 hours long so the divers had to administer multiple injections. Now imagine waking up in a narrow underwater passage with your hands and feet tied up in almost complete darkness.@@SetiSupreme

@@InterYamah Huh. Maybe I'm just weird but I'm genuinely very trusting in those situations. Like, when I get into a car with a stranger and he's driving, even if he's drunk as fuck I still automatically trust them 100% to know what they're doing. Of course I've gotten more wary with age but still

it's beautiful when humans come together to save those in needs, it was an international interest. This is what i love most about humans, and many would seek to destroy that which holds humans together. Humans are at war with themselves and their minds. But when the best of humans prevails, it makes you happy that were born here, but soon that feeling fades away especially when you look at society and many people who are full of hate. It's hard being human, knowing your own mortality.

It's important to note that they were not anesthetized like how you would be during surgery. They were instead sedated with ketamine; making them feel very calm and relaxed and hopefully having no memory of the journey. That's not all, those diving masks had to be made specially fit to be able to work properly; the people of the town also offered to help by building drains in the side of the mountain to start decreasing the water level so the mission would be easier. One of the only reasons the boys lasted so long in the cave is because their soccer coach that was with them was also a monk. The story of this rescue mission is actually really interesting. There's a book written about it called All 13, not a long read, too.

HERE IS ALL THE DETAILS The boys and their coach had just finished their soccer game, and decided to go to the cave because it wasn’t the rainy season yet. They went deep into the cave, and then tried to turn around, only to find out they were stuck, and had to survive somehow, hoping they would be found, and not have any food, with nothing but the support of the coach. I’ve read the book and watched the movie on this it doesn’t really talk about more than just navigating water, but the divers also gave the kids and their coach food for days while trying to get them out, and with the strong currents it was harder. Also, you couldn’t hit anything. Your mask, the kids mask, the tank, NOTHING. They also had to struggle with setting it up so that the divers could get air tanks on the way because it would take like eight hours. It was so extreme that locals were giving farmland to help with pumping out water. Also, the kids were in pitch black, so they were kind of struggling with that too. They could only get cave divers because any other diver or person doesn’t have no way near that sort of energy and endurance and carefulness to fight the strong currents (guys the currents were really strong, nonstop flowing) and everything else. They even had to use extra syringes to keep the kids asleep, and had to struggle, not hit anything, open the thing, put the stinger on, then after dosing the kids, put the stuff up, not drop the child, not hit anything, and not drop the light. It was a freaking war Hope you enjoyed reading this, because it took time to write down Edit: also, the divers had barely enough room for theirselves in most of the cave, so carrying a person and doing everything else was basically suicide

The last boy stayed awake and had to stay calm to be pulled out like this. It was a 6 hour dive btw. Very serious and dangerous circumstances. They called in navy seals and volunteer professional divers (one of which who passed) to save the boys and coach. They expected high casualties, but all 13 boys lived and the coach. The one hero volunteer diver did panic underwater from losing his oxygen mask and likely hit his head, causing his death. High water level, tight extremely right tunnels, and very low visibility. They were tied to a medical board of some sort, not carried by hand, and pass thru to the next diver at each underwater site. The anesthesia had to be measured specifically because of the conditions. The boys were already suffering from low oxygen and they had to stay conscious to breathe with their mask on while they were transported thru. At each above water site their vitals were taken before going back under the next cave. So everything was very detailed and risky. The movie on this was really well done too.

I’ve seen a lot of people confused about my comment so I edited it to clarify. There was an assistant coach because the people trapped were the coach, and it’s students. However the coach noticed one of the kids were upset so he decided to go on a trip for everyone at the cave. The weather was not looking good and before they realized it, the cave was flooded. The coach ordered every kid to be calm and ration their food supplies until before the rescue team comes to save them.

For people who didnt know one of the boys head was too small for the face masks so they had to make custom. Another thing! The reason the cave was hard to navigate was because the cave branched into two paths. Final thing, these four kids were part of a soccer team and their chaoch had taken them there. Edit: OMG THANKS FOR THE LIKES PS: I did not mean to start a fight in the replies lol

The fact 1. The dead rescuer is former seal from Thai navy force and after retirement he working at airport security guard. 2. They didt even knocked out the kids before taking them outside. 3. They are stucking at the cave for 18 days. 4. The coach told those kids to stay still and not moving much to save energy and being calmed in this situation that why the kids can survive for 18 days.

There's a movie about this! I remembered watching it in class and I was so sad for the diver dying. People across all states came to save the boys too.

@@TheMeowtrixits very common for a panicked divers to flail and lash out grabbing anything they can, this can kill someone as well as yourself. It was a 6 hour dive from where the kids were to the entrance. With 0 diving experience and also being kids, it was highly likely, almost guaranteed that they would have panicked and died and the odds of them killing their rescuer was also high.

Also fun fact, the anesthetic they were given was Ketamine. It worked well because people still naturally breathe when they are anesthetized by ketamine. The only problem is it's also short lasting, so it had to be re-administered several times throughout the dive. Ketamine isn't "horse tranquilizer" like a lot of people think, it's used as a human drug in hospitals a lot of the time too, it was developed as a drug for humans. It just happens to work for animals too.

it should also be noted there are divers and cave rescue specialists who are readily on-call for rescue expeditions all the time, they do their day jobs, but are on a registry of rescue operations teams for all S&R to call when a situation they are certified and specialized in is presented. i know someone who is a rescue diver and his day job is a fucking forklift operator at a hardware store, he's only been called a few times, but he has all the licensure and rescue certification he needs.
