That's not all, those diving masks had to be made specially fit to be able to work properly; the people of the town also offered to help by building drains in the side of the mountain to start decreasing the water level so the mission would be easier. One of the only reasons the boys lasted so long in the cave is because their soccer coach that was with them was also a monk. The story of this rescue mission is actually really interesting. There's a book written about it called All 13, not a long read, too.

HERE IS ALL THE DETAILS The boys and their coach had just finished their soccer game, and decided to go to the cave because it wasn’t the rainy season yet. They went deep into the cave, and then tried to turn around, only to find out they were stuck, and had to survive somehow, hoping they would be found, and not have any food, with nothing but the support of the coach. I’ve read the book and watched the movie on this it doesn’t really talk about more than just navigating water, but the divers also gave the kids and their coach food for days while trying to get them out, and with the strong currents it was harder. Also, you couldn’t hit anything. Your mask, the kids mask, the tank, NOTHING. They also had to struggle with setting it up so that the divers could get air tanks on the way because it would take like eight hours. It was so extreme that locals were giving farmland to help with pumping out water. Also, the kids were in pitch black, so they were kind of struggling with that too. They could only get cave divers because any other diver or person doesn’t have no way near that sort of energy and endurance and carefulness to fight the strong currents (guys the currents were really strong, nonstop flowing) and everything else. They even had to use extra syringes to keep the kids asleep, and had to struggle, not hit anything, open the thing, put the stinger on, then after dosing the kids, put the stuff up, not drop the child, not hit anything, and not drop the light. It was a freaking war Hope you enjoyed reading this, because it took time to write down Edit: also, the divers had barely enough room for theirselves in most of the cave, so carrying a person and doing everything else was basically suicide

The last boy stayed awake and had to stay calm to be pulled out like this. It was a 6 hour dive btw. Very serious and dangerous circumstances. They called in navy seals and volunteer professional divers (one of which who passed) to save the boys and coach. They expected high casualties, but all 13 boys lived and the coach. The one hero volunteer diver did panic underwater from losing his oxygen mask and likely hit his head, causing his death. High water level, tight extremely right tunnels, and very low visibility. They were tied to a medical board of some sort, not carried by hand, and pass thru to the next diver at each underwater site. The anesthesia had to be measured specifically because of the conditions. The boys were already suffering from low oxygen and they had to stay conscious to breathe with their mask on while they were transported thru. At each above water site their vitals were taken before going back under the next cave. So everything was very detailed and risky. The movie on this was really well done too.

I’ve seen a lot of people confused about my comment so I edited it to clarify. There was an assistant coach because the people trapped were the coach, and it’s students. However the coach noticed one of the kids were upset so he decided to go on a trip for everyone at the cave. The weather was not looking good and before they realized it, the cave was flooded. The coach ordered every kid to be calm and ration their food supplies until before the rescue team comes to save them.

I still remember my mom prayed everyday for them. They were stuck for several days without food. And even when their way to be rescued is also a big deal. The rescuers still couldn't save them when they had reached to them. They gave them their flash light and a promise to save them. After a day or two, once everything is prepared for the rescue, they saved them and everyone got the relief.

@ahetzel90546 ай бұрын
@@TheMeowtrixits very common for a panicked divers to flail and lash out grabbing anything they can, this can kill someone as well as yourself. It was a 6 hour dive from where the kids were to the entrance. With 0 diving experience and also being kids, it was highly likely, almost guaranteed that they would have panicked and died and the odds of them killing their rescuer was also high.
@ChrisM-bn5vr6 ай бұрын
Also fun fact, the anesthetic they were given was Ketamine. It worked well because people still naturally breathe when they are anesthetized by ketamine. The only problem is it's also short lasting, so it had to be re-administered several times throughout the dive. Ketamine isn't "horse tranquilizer" like a lot of people think, it's used as a human drug in hospitals a lot of the time too, it was developed as a drug for humans. what..? They were footballers and the divers weren't vacationing there (as pointed out by Nicholas). They were sent there by different countries to rescue them. Other countries sent help like pipes, drills, etc.

What’s more amazing is one doctor volunteered to stay in and help keep them alive after all they went through. On top of that so many countries and special operation groups took place in this. Rip Saman Kunan you brought them those air tanks you saved lives 🫡

Crazy he was a fairly young ex-SEAL, the fact he is the one to not make it shows you how dangerous this situation was.

Yeah, it's weird how are perception of time changes, but it makes sense in a way. Six years is over half your life when you're ten, for a 24-year-old it's a quarter of their life, for a 60-year-old, a tenth.
