45acp or 10mm will shatter a standard brick within 1-2 shots, 357 and 44mag might penetrate on the first shot. So while bricks can protect you somewhat, I wouldn't hide behind a brick wall for too long, it's definitely more than just a small dent.

if you shoot a handgun loaded with a atom sized bullet at a brick wall, the spacing of the atoms in the brick wall would allow a chance for the atom sized bullet to travel through the openings of the wall due to its small size. This lets the bullet seem like it phases through the brick wall.

If you shoot a brick wall at an angle, the bullet will skid along the wall, which is why they tell you not to press up against walls if you’re being shot at.

this also depends on bullet type, you get a tungsten round and that wall is tissue paper, hell even a tungsten round in a 22 will go through brick, titanium as well, steel rounds even do a pretty good job, and oddly enough steal core hollow points will also go through, only copper or softer metal based rounds do that

As a smart little reference for anybody that is new to weapons. Do not try either of these. There is a little thing called ricochet. If you shoot a solid object, there is a very high probability that it will bounce back and hit you or someone else, despite what this video states. Always make sure you are 100% certain that you are aiming at your targeted item, safety is on until you are ready to shoot at said item, squeeze the trigger do not pull, then fire. After all is done, immediately put it back on safe.

Myth, a handgun bullet using a full metal jacket can shoot through a brick wall with enough force to kill someone one the other side. Soft lead and hollow point bullets will not penetrate, because they flatten, in the case of the hollow point this was intentional, in order to make a round that has enough power to penetrate through auto-glass, but not too much to shoot through the walls of buildings, in order to prevent police from hitting people inside buildings that they can not see. That hollow point rounds make larger wound cavities that full metal jacket is just a byproduct of this, though a soft lead bullet, which used to be the default type of bullet, will make an even larger wound cavity than a hollow point.

I mean short and simple yes but then again you use a longer barreled pistol calibered rifle 12-16” the bullet will usually pick up greater speeds along with differing rounds like a 10mm through a 12” barrel will clean a 1.5” cinder block and destroy what’s on the other side. Also really small high charged rounds like the 5.7 goes right through as well.

The ability to break the wall isn’t based on the rifle but on the bullet itself as all a rifle does is hit the hammer forcing the bullet to go down the chamber the only part of the rifle that matters is its rifling. So in order to break the wall you would need a rifle with good rifling and a supersonic bullet.

It’s not the firearm that has the high power, it’s the bullet type. The first bullet was a 9mm that is used in pistols and the second was like a rifle bullet, anything from 5.56 to 7.62. It’s the bullet that carries the higher power to penetrate

Whether a bullet will penetrate something like a brick wall depends on many varying factors, such as: 1. Velocity 2. Projectile material 3. Target material (type of brick) 3. Angle of impact 4. Projectile weight I wouldn't recommend using a brick wall as cover in any situation unless you were being shot at with rounds that have a very low energy, such as a .22 LR.
