I actually think Thames News was comparatively upmarket, though that may only be in comparison with the Day Today inspiration ("when London Tonight came out, we thought f*** this parody business" - Chris Morris, 1994) that replaced it.

"All of the time, if not for much of the time". Classic! This isn't 1987 because the copyright date is 1986. Going by the Peter Robinson story it appears to be Thursday 7th August 1986.

A rare Thames Television endcap with the copyright in it in 1986 (MCMLXXXVI), as most programmes made by Thames had the copyright included in the end credits by then.
