LWT was still starting at 7pm on a Friday, but from January 1982 the IBA changed it to 5:15pm thus the “Thames Weekend News “ was shown at 6pm within The Six O’ Clock Show on LWT until later LWT improved its Local News service which had been poor with only the on duty continuity announcer reading the London News Headlines after ITN at 10pm

Yes I remember that as child. I always used to look forward to the handover to LWT as it meant weekend has officially started

A young Francis Wilson. Worked for ITV, BBC and Sky. Andrew Gardner legend always religiously gave ITN headlines at the end and used his previous experience

That bit about what Italian fans get up to made me pause when I remembered what would come later in the decade... I never knew Christopher Cazenove did commercials. Such a handsome man. I mostly saw him on Dynasty. Most of the weathermen I've seen on news from these years tend to be older - seeing a young, handsome (excessively blinking) man was a surprise.
