During this time, Thameslink also hired a number of Class 317s from West Anglia Great Northern on services between Bedford, Moorgate, and St Pancras. Because the 317s were only made for the AC Overhead power supply only, they couldn’t operate south of Farringdon from what I can remember. The 317s also have the same GEC G315BZ Traction Motors as the Class 319s as well, but with less horsepower.

You are right. I remember travelling on a 317 from Moorgate one evening. The 317s are briefly mentioned in my Thameslink rolling stock video.

@@BPMR Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but in the early to mid 1980s, I believe they were the first electric multiple units used on the Midland Mainline to and from Bedford, before Thameslink was launched in 1987 by Network Southeast when the Class 319s were introduced during that time.

What a difference to the modern day station. A channel called Batman51 made 3 videos. 1 in 2009 and 2 in 2011. The 2011 videos show how difficult was the reconstruction. Good video @B.P.M.R.

Thanks for this video, I'm following history of the thameslink, especially area of Snow Hill, Blackfriars and Holborn Viaduct. Sadly these these places are not existing anymore but can imagine how was looked like.
