Some early videos on here of 444/450s also have them going straight to the higher pitch rather than at 20-30mph. Mustlve been a conscious change across the DC fleets early in their lives which these didn't get.

First Capital Connect[1] (FCC) was a British train operating company, owned by FirstGroup, that operated the Thameslink and Great Northern sectors from April 2006 to September 2014 which later became the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) franchise. First Capital Connect was a major provider of commuter and regional services in London and the south east of England. It operated passenger rail services from Luton and Bedford via the Thameslink to Sutton, Wimbledon and Brighton via Central London. It also operated commuter, suburban and regional services out of London King's Cross and London Moorgate to Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Major destinations served included Cambridge, King's Lynn and Peterborough. First Capital Connect ceased operations at 02:00 on 14 September 2014, when the franchise was taken over by Govia Thameslink Railway, and became part of the larger Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise.

Say what you want about the old slammers, their seats were much more comfortable than current trains.

That was well cool. I grew up in Welling and always wondered what it looks like from the front. Surprising how many twists and turns there are, you really don't notice that so much as a passenger. Cheers

I honestly think it's a shame the North Woolwich Line had to close. The way it ran parallel with the road through Silvertown was quite interesting. Plus that museum at North Woolwich Station looked so cool!

That Connex livery was atrocious! It's just not how VEPs should have looked, but it was like a metaphor for them. They're going soon so who cares what they look like..... the NSE was really good.

Besides the window bars /restricted droplights there was an operating requirement that the gangway doors between coupled units be locked out of use when passing through Oxted Tunnel (in my experience this was not always done) because of the unrestricted droplights in the driving vestibules. This is covered on my BloodandCustard pages.

Looking back, it's embarrassing how we 'couldn't get our s**t together for the first 13 years of Eurostar services. And these majestic speed monsters had to trundle through Streatham at 50 mph. That alone should have indicated to Europe, and the world that we were no longer a major player on the world stage. But the HS2 debacle clearly, and very painfully hammered this home in the most tragically incompetent British way possible. Add to the fact that Brexit is doing so much damage aswell. The country that invented rail travel, now can't even build a high speed line between London and Manchester. It's not even challenging terrain!! The Peak District is not really challenging terrain, when you compare it with The Alps. All this shows is that we don't possess world class engineers anymore, nor do we have the ingenuity or political nous to get mega transport projects completed. Only if they're entirely in London. If they involve areas outside London, then forget it. That's so sad, but oh so true I'm afraid. You cannot argue with this fact.

Plus with 410/411/412 trains where all compactable meaning if a 411 break down in front of a 410 or 412 they can connect without any problems, yet now days companies instead of running different types of trains for example the GTR instead of running from from south coast a 377 or 378 (which is same unit and fittings) but then they chose to put the 700 unit on the route and if a 700 unit breaks down and behind it is a 377/378 (same the other way around) both trains cannot connect to each other as they have wrong connection, meaning passageners have to wait a long time for a they can get a fitting so both trains can fitted together, causing delays.

Bring the trains out ot private hands and back into public hands, as when it was in public hands everything was running how it should be, hardly any strikes and all the trains where same sort and reliable
