I’m watching the Crown as well and agree. This interview, however, reminds me more of the film On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. @John Malone; As a fellow non-royalist, I agree with you. Hating the people who fell into that unfortunate path of life due to an accident of birth is plain silly. Even sillier is the inability to acknowledge how many individuals like The Duke Of Edinburgh endeavoured to make the most of his difficult and constrictive position to contribute to society. One of my reasons for disliking a monarchy is that it puts more restrictions on one family than any other in the country whilst considering them to be the highest in the land. All the perks of being a royal are warranted to my mind as they lose the utmost perk of all which is the ability to freely make life choices. Royal or not, Prince Philip was a good man.

Because of his age and his old habit of cracking jokes from his younger days he recently became the butt of idiotic comments. In his early days with the Queen, he was the Diana of his day, except that he knew how to keep his mouth shut at times of conflict. I saw him at RAE Farnborough in the early 1950s. He was walking with a small group which walked past the entrance to our Dept. He suddenly peeled off and walked past my window and into our building. The group must have been idiots because they walked on for a while before realizing he had gone. By the time they caught up with him, he was in a deep conversation with a top scientist. He just had an enquiring mind and got bored with the normal things that were laid on for him. Respect.

@Mark Kenny it seems you've not done any real research. You need to ask yourself why these Royals are connected to people like Savile and Epstein. Research Mountbatten and again you'll find more accusations of paedophilia. David Icke has written extensively about the elites murdering and raping children. He named Ted Heath while he was still alive and was never sued. Research Brice Taylor, she has also named this man and other Royals/Elites in her book. She claims to have been trafficked to them and again no litigation was forthcoming. Jimmy Savile had the run of the palace, could go anytime day or night. He took holidays with Thatcher and was knighted by her Majesty and the Pope. He was given the keys to mental.institutions and hospitals. Could do anything he wanted to innocent, defenseless children. He was a DJ from Leeds, strange eh? Well he was a conduit to the rich and famous. He gave them what they wanted - kids. Epstein similar, this is why Maxwell's daughter was procuring the kids off the streets cos they are more likely to trust a woman. Prince Andrew was a regular visitor to Epstein's hideaways. The kids were much younger than the 17yr old he was photographed with. The media is controlled by the elites and does its best to hide the truth. A paedophile is not interested in 17yr olds. As Epstein allegedly remarked when asked how he liked them...younger the better. I could go on and on....

I personally think it's an insulting and disrespectful question, definitely not the best way to start any kind of real relationship. It's ironic this is so ingrained in a democratic society that cares so much about individual liberty and yet we're so obsessed with associating people with their menial jobs like we're back in feudal times. And here we have a literal member of a monarchy saying how terrible that is.

He is an intelligent man, who was not allowed to make any changes in RF, since Mother Queen wanted Elizabeth to carry everything the same way as before she became the queen. He was modern, they were conservative and archaic. He had no power to change anything, watch documentary about his mother, then you understand where he came from.

Watching 'The Crown' during the pandemic peeked my interest in the royal family. Prince Philip died just about the time I finished the last episode. I then consumed every video I could find about the life and love of Princess/Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. He stands out to me as a statement of how Elizabeth was given the vision to choose him as her mate; also even with growing pains getting use to his role, he went on to be such a support to the Queen and a leader of his family and of any endeavor he took on. His love for and support of the Queen is like no other I've seen. This interview and videos of him make me think very highly of Prince Philip as a person, consort and man of integrity, a competitive man, a man with strength of character and with commitment to duty. He made mistakes and was not perfect but overall, you knew where you stood with him. He spoke his mind and most always made sense. He loved his family and the tradition of the monarchy. May he rest in peace.

Prince Phillip is such a wise, handsome, intelligent, articulate, eloquent, elegant and charmingly glamorous creature of a gentleman and royal monarch. Great leader alongside Queen Elizabeth II. Love this interview of him, always knew when to crack a grand joke and make fun of himself and the ridiculous scrutinizing media/ paparazzi. Adore listening to his gentle aristocratic like accent, it’s very unique and distinct. 🏴🇬🇧💎👑✨⚜️🥰😍😘🤩🌟🫶🏻😆♥️❤️

I always find that anyone who interviews Prince Philip is never up to his common sense and clear intelligence. they always ask him questions wherein are already contained the obvious answer. They keep scratching below the surface to find something glamorous that is so not philip's line.
@zerksepraga3 жыл бұрын
I think the Prince seems to have changed his views since he wrote his book, because when asked about this and this particular idea as it appeared in the book, his answer seems to say something more, instead of affirming what he had written that it still is. That's true to his words when he said that whether the book is still relevant for years to come, something like that.

I think Nik Lel is saying that had Philip been in more vibrant health-his old self-in recent years, things would have been handled much differently within the family and how they’ve been portrayed in the media. The Harry/Meghan mess would never have gotten out of control. I think Philip would have counseled Prince Andrew not to do his ill-fated tv interview about the Epstein scandal.
