I'm definitely honored to consider myself a Dragon Ball fan. Akira Toriyama has touched many lives and considering Diama is still yet to release, he'll continue to inspire people across the globe. Thank you, Akira Toriyama for 40 years of absolute glory.

The whole news was so sudden. I'm embarrassed to admit I broke down after the news hit me. This man's work has shaped me as a person. The fact he's gone is still surreal hours later. Rest easy now, Toriyama, and godspeed in the otherworld.

Don't be embarrassed... We all loved Akira. Just shows how much his work meant to you.

I remember, freaking the heck out and it didn't hit me til exactly 24 hours later. Lotta tears. Last time a famous death hit me this bad was when Norm passed. Both of them brought a Lotta laughs and good times to their fans.

Have memories of watching DBZ back when it aired on Toonami. Then watching it again on Nicktoons and the uncut version on YT with the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack. Toriyama-Sensei’s works will always be legendary and will never be forgotten. RIP to the GOAT, gone too soon😔😭

I have such fond memories watching DBZKai after school, mimicking Goku's spirit bomb as a 5th grader, coming home excited to see Krillin and Bulma on Namek... even though I still haven't finished DBZ, it's always been incredibly influential on my most favorite pieces of media; Sonic, Lego Monkie Kid's Macaque, and of course, your own Zetto. Even my own dog is named after Gohan. Absolutely heartbroken to see him gone too soon; it seemed like he absolutely had more stories to tell :(

When I was a little kid I loved watching Dragon Ball Z on Toonami and playing the Budokai games with my older brother. In middle school I loved playing Tenkaichi 2 and 3 with my friends after school. From high school through to today I love watching Dragon Ball KZbin videos from people like Qaaman, Blacknfist, Teamfourstar, Mistarefusion Geekdom101, TotallyNotMark, and others. I'm also a huge fan of Naruto and it's community on KZbin, and Naruto probably never would've existed without Dragon Ball. So thank you Toriyama-Sensei🕊. Thank you for all these memories that I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

Rest in peace, a legend, a prince, a knight of art. He will be missed. We will continue to love his worlds, his work, and his passions. Remember all, that fan fiction is more than fun, it is remembering, honoring in a personal way. Now it's a new age, but we will go with him having made us better for it. I celebrate as I mourn, because he wanted to make people happy, and I for one am very happy he existed!

Toriyama lived the hermit lifestyle like Roshi, almost to the point when no one knew the last time he was seen in public, but it still shocked me to learn he had actually passed away. I recall the days when I was just a lad watching DBZ reruns on the original run of Toonami, eagerly hoping that there would be a new episode finally but still watching each rerun regardless lol. I genuinely hope he knew just how much his works truly touched all parts of the world, not just in Japan. RIP 🙏🏾🕊🕊

yeah, Toriyama is one of the most insane pantsers ever. Mostly because he couldn't remember what did the week before lol, but it somehow all works without too much conflict. It feels natural, and good.
@asherzerbib346110 ай бұрын
I can't accept this. It seems crazy that he was continuing to develop Dragon Ball even after all this time. Toriyama-sensei had a gift, as you pointed out Chris, that even some more renowned authors of NY best sellers would envy; being able to improvise so much without prior planning (even if sometimes he didn't always stick the landing, as shown from the Frieza arc onwards). His influence on Japanese comics and animation, not to mention all other media, was just so empowering it was like he'd always be here…and now he isn't. I'm sorry for ranting. This just hurts too much. It hurts…

your video here, I am so GENUINELY APPRECIATIVE of... seeing someone, that genuinely inspired me, share this same pain.... that means so much. HE taught me that its ok to have a ridiculous narrative, but still drive forward, regardless of criticism YOU taught me that its ok to have a world with so may blatant inspirations, yet make it your own REST IN GLORY TORIYAMA-SENSEI, and i dont only use sensei in the formal usage of the term. he was a teacher, an inspiration. and YOU Niosi-SENSEI, keep driving on. let's make sure his legacy is a generation of F***ING AWESOME creations that he inspired!

I'm sad for this news, now I'm not a fan of DB like before, so instead of remember him for that I will remember him for the games he was involve with, like Dragon Quest and Chorno Trigger, mostly those 2, because I love those games, this is without a doubt a bit lost. RIP Toriyama, you earn it.

I was either 3 or 4 when I started watching DBZ on TV. It was my introduction to alot of life concepts that I hadn't been introduced into.... I barely understood what I was watching back then, but I followed it enough to know that it was my favorite part of the night. And I was honestly rewatching Dragon Ball here at home at the time when the news broke. I just got to The Land of Korin.... The influence Toriyama's work has had on my life shaped me into much of what has become the person I am today. In a way, just by knowing the story of Dragon ball has always inspired me to keep trying to get stronger as a person. Even when it gets tough, and it does get tough.... I know I can get through if I get back up and power through life's challenges. We're all going to miss him.

My first exposure with any anime was with Dragon Ball no less. I loved every nook and crany of his work. He had a significant touch with every character he drew. Even with gaming, with Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest, I could see the passion he used. From time to time, I use to watch old episodes from Z and leave amazed after every setting. I even loved Dragon Ball GT, even if it's said he didn't want that to be a thing. And yet, I can see the passion and the pure love within Goku. The scene when Goku part ways with his loved ones and drifts off with Shenron breaks me every time. Heck, when Dragon Ball Super was still airing, I loved it, although there are some things I can't quite fathom. Even still, I thank him for everything he has done for us. Sayonara, master. See you on the other side.

Dragon Ball was something that all of my family enjoyed watching together, even my mom getting some of the references. My earliest was The Dead Zone, then seeing Gohan's training during the Saiyan saga. Being of the generation that watched it from the Ocean Dub days, then going into Funimation's dub on Toonami, and then watching Dragon Ball with the Buu saga, it's been a wild ride. Rest in Peace, Toriyama
