Thank You for being a Friend was the theme song of 80s TV series The Golden Girls, which starred Betty White, Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty. Andrew Gold wrote Thank You For Being a Friend in 1978, and it was covered by Cynthia Fee for the theme song of the television show. Betty White, who recently passed at the age of 99, was an American actress and comedian, and a pioneer of early television, with a career spanning over eight decades! She was the first woman to produce a sitcom (Life with Elizabeth) in the United States, and is often referred to as the "First Lady of Television", a title used for a 2018 documentary detailing her life and career. This cover is my humble tribute to her and this song, in an original 4-part a cappella harmony. All parts sung by me.
--- LYRICS
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down a road and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
Well, you would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
Thank you for being a friend
