Love your channel. I was sent to Greece in 1977 to live for a year and had a big culture shock . That was before the EU . Greek culture was different then . It was very conservative and very middle eastern. They had all the little fishing boats everywhere and those are mostly gone (EU) the drachma is gone (EU) the girls didn’t go out alone and usually walked hand in hand . No dates without chaperone. No drugs but almost all men smoked ( but not the women usually) the men called each other malaka a lot when talking ( ok maybe this hasn’t changed lol ) . But as a teenager from USA sent to live in Greece the most amazing thing to me was the cultural difference between teenagers there and in the USA . Greeks had built in respect for their elders , weren’t involved in drugs or getting drunk . Getting stoned and drunk was shameful and not something fun to do. The girls then were planning to be virgins until engaged or married . If you went to movies theater it was usually all males and there was sign that said το κάπνισμα g απαγορεύεται but everyone would light up as soon as the lights turned out . Then they would have an intermission and a cart would come into the theater selling τυρόπιτα and other baked goods . It was the best school year compared to USA public schools. Point being though that maybe the modern Greek culture has been mostly lost to EU and western morals and culture . What do you think about the modern Greek music compared to the older Greek music ? It’s gone western big time ? Idk but maybe you could make a video on the good and bad changes since Greece joined the eu ?

Hey Daniel. A funny thing happened just now. I read the title of your video, and I welled up with tears! You see, this 63 year old Greek-American and my college aged daughter LOVE your channel! We watch you, and 'Easy Greek' all the time. You have become part of our lives, and we even visited Nafplio this summer (among many many places)! You are such a 'natural' in front of the camera, and you have so many interesting things to say. And you seem like such a kind man too. Your family is very lucky to have you, and so is Greece!

Im moving to Greece from Canada next year. Its been a 5 year plan. Next year is 5. So anyway, many people in Greece like family and friends think I'm nuts, but I laugh it up. They tell me "what will you do here", so I made up a story of being a shepherd fisherman milking my goats on the boat while I wait for my nets to catch fish. On choppy seas I will use the power of the sea to make butter, both unsalted and salted by making my own salt on the boat. That way I join the green economy by harnessing natural power. At the same time I told them I'd hire their kids for my tour company showing what a Crazy Greek Canadian is doing. LOL So now they think I'm insane and never bring things up like that to me anymore. So you see its a win win. They think I'm crazy and I laugh. Stay positive dude. Keep doing what makes you smile.

"where you see the beauty here?" with that backdrop, must be the most trolling comment ive ever heared 😂😂😂 she obviously has never lived in a foreign country. many greek are like this, they just dont realize that they live in a paradiselike environment because they never been anywhere else. they confuse bad politics with the land god gave them to live, abit like spoiled children. i had MANY discussions of how bad everything here is , meanwhile the ppl who complain owning 2-3 plots of land, 1 house close to a beach , 2 big flats one of it earning money the other live in , driving 2 cars both bigger than mine. my point is ppl like to complain even if they are doing well.😉

Greek here. I can confirm that the majority of Greeks don't know what it is to really live poor in a poor country or in an ugly one, with ugly lifestyle and boring food. I've travelled all over Europe since I was a small child. Not only that, I've visited most of the important places around the world.... Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Brazil, USA, Canada, Colombia, to name a few but I want to cry from happiness every time I land back in Athens. Sometimes I do. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those crazy patriots, no, no, no. I say it as it is. I've always said I also like Italy very much, because it reminds me of home... but Southern Italy mostly. A bit more pasta, a bit less lemon, it works for me, too. But to say that there is no beauty in Greece is laughable, to say the least. I have come to love even the overflowing bins with garbage in Athens during strikes.

I decided to comment on this video, to explain some things to you, which probably seem strange to you or you can't explain the behaviors. The first thing you should know is that most citizens of this country wear political blinders and only see with a 20% angle opening. Everything they see or hear, they filter according to their political position (it's in our DNA since ancient times, when we were at war with each other). Actually, they don't blame you, but the system - which you project as nice - which for them is POLITICALLY unacceptable! If you were to say something negative, others with the same views from another political position would attack you because they would think you were talking about the government!!! So all those who complain about life in Greece, do not agree to work in harder jobs where they will have better salaries, but prefer to criticize from the cafeterias at halftime of the football match. It is difficult for you to understand this logic and psychology, but discuss it with your wife and friends and they will explain it sufficiently. As for the lady (Karen) who told you that we don't want foreigners, etc., she has confused in her mind the proper citizens of the world, with the illegal immigrants who come by the thousands from Asia and Africa creating problems for the residents, while the government gives them benefits from citizens' taxes. Think about the blinkers I mentioned above... I personally thank you for promoting Greece, whose citizens see great benefits in their pocket from the money of visitors. With this money we pay the loans that our "politicians" took for their own or party benefit. Keep up the good work and don't pay too much attention to the doomsayers and the lazy.

This is your own channel and you have every right to express your opinion and view on Greece! Saying that, it’s well known throughout Greece and outside, especially because there are a lot of surveys, articles, that the average Greek struggles to find a reasonable rent or to buy a house, to go to the supermarket, to go on holidays etc while on a salary of 800€! In fact this summer, the Greek government was trying to justify this situation by promoting the term “staycation “, stay at home since you cannot afford holidays in your own country! This is a fact and nobody can deny it!

Good evening my friend. I won't tell you what to do, or what not to do, I'll just tell you what I see. I see someone who is not Greek but is Greek & maybe more than a native. I see some nice content, some of which I agree with some of which I don't, but I still like to see it, so I can agree or disagree. Bottom line my friend, do what's on your mind, listen, see, and at the end of the day do what you want, people will always find something to say, that's how people are. People nowadays judge everything, positive or negative, but they never look in the mirror. Good luck in whatever you do. PS I live in Greece and basically I have no reason to watch the content of your videos and yet I watch them, among everything else I watch, while in the time I have I could watch something closer to my own interests. For me, this is what you call success, small or big it doesn't matter, it is success, indisputable.

I started writing a comment on one of your videos yesterday, that for irrelevant reasons I didn't end up posting it. An woke up today with this.... For me, είσαι Βενεζουελάνος αλλά παράλληλα είσαι και Έλληνας! No matter of what content you make, there will be people that relate to it and people that don't, people that are comfortable and people that struggle. There is living proof in this very same video, that guy passing by and telling you what a great content you make (and I totally agree with him) in contrast to that θεία that told you that your videos have a negative impact. But I want to believe that most Greeks have the sense of Φιλοξενία, a very old word with such a powerful meaning! It doesn't matter how you make your living, it doesn't matter if you are more or less comfortable, your videos are your videos, they bring your personal view of things and it shows how what you do is what you like and feel and not what will bring that most money, and I respect that, I relate to that, it feels down to earth, humble, genuine, real! A side note to fellow Greeks that feel tourism and foreigners coming to live here is a bad thing for Greece, remember, there is a part of the world that the people there are doing absolutely fantastic without any outsides in their country, it's called North Korea... I am Greek, living in Greece, and I find your channel one of the most inspiring in this space! Keep doing what you love!

Daniel , there’s always someone that doesn’t like what one does, how they look, sound, etc. I’ve spent quite some time in Greece which is one of my favorite places I’ve seen, maybe the best. And the majority of people have been so wonderful . But like anywhere, there have been a few who once they found out I was American , they were not kind because of government politics, and even fewer that were trying a con. As an American I get mean comments sometimes from other countries as well, and I just try to be the best unofficial ambassador I can. It doesn’t feel fair, im just an individual doing my best but my country does piss people off, I get it, believe me! But it’s not in my control what others think at the end of the day. There are also busybody Americans for sure😂 like my neighbors when I needed to sell my house, lots of opinions. But most of the Greek people were above and beyond kind, welcoming, invited us to special occasions or activities, helped when in a trouble. And that is why Greece is my favorite , I love the beauty, history, and culture, but I’ve been to other beautiful, interesting places, and realize it’s the people that make Greece my favorite and why I keep going back, I feel relaxed and safe there like nowhere else . They do get tired of tourists in some places after a busy summer season, like in Naxos town in September, there was an attitude, they are tired, but outside of town , super sweet people who are happy to see someone visit off the beaten path. I’m sorry the cruise ships sound like they’re ruining the meditteranean from an article I read. I’m also sorry the people suffer from the economic and political decisions, they don’t deserve that. And now here in my home we will find out how hard it can be.

As a Greek abroad the Greeks in Greece are backwards not forward thinkers paranoid. Love your dream Daniel we really appreciate your work and insights into this beautiful country shame about the majority that live there that don’t know anything past their borders. Your an asset to that country. Trolls are jealous if they thought outside the box maybe there perception of you would be different. We in Melbourne Australia love your channel and content.

All those abandoned animals is a shame for Greece. And all the negative people, too. But let's help each other to make this country what it deserves to be. Never give up, you're one of us!

Καλησπέρα, I like your videos:) While watching this video I spontaneously thought of a rephrased channel name like My lifestyle in Greece 🤷 or you leave as it is cause the majority of Greeks like what you film. I focus on the positive things as well, so keep up the good work💪 προσμένω στα επόμενα!

This IS a real Greek lifestyle. Not everyone can achieve it, but not every American lives in Hollywood either! People make choices, and if some people "work 9-5 in a bog city", it's their choice, their problem. That's not a Greek lifestyle though. The Greek lifestyle should include sea or mountain, taverna and ouzo. The rest is for people who cannot leave their comfort zone and start a new life. They are too scared and too jealous that you have managed it....

Greeks dont see the beauty of Greece till they leave abroad and then want to return as life is different then what they know and are disappointed what the outside world has to offer and some go back very quick😂 Or you must be a greek that grew up abroad to see the beauty of Greece

Live your life the way you want it, see things in your life the way you want them, do the things you want in life! Good strength and good continuation in everything you do! From someone who lives in Greece but not as a "foreigner" and is followed with pleasure and a little "jealousy" for your perspective!

In Hawaii we call seniors Auntie and Uncle. I'm glad someone let you know that Thea is a more respectful way of saying an older or more mature woman. As a 71-year old, I cringe when I hear old lady or old man. Auntie or Uncle, Theías and Theíos is much more positive. 😊
