The mic under your shirt standing far away from the camera sounds awesome. Sitting beside the camera and switching back and forth from camera mic to portable mic, no difference. Also sounds great. Having the portable mic and being able to walk away from the camera but still having great audio is going to open up a whole new world for you. You’ll get some amazing new angles. Can’t wait to see what you create with it. Very exciting. Great purchase.

The Lav mic is always going to sound better than a camera mic. It makes it much easier to isolate your voice from background noise, helping you streamline your editing process.

The microphone sounds much better in this situation than it did in the van. There is no comparison between the two at a distance, the microphone makes you sound like you are right there even when you face away from the camera. Sounds the same whether it is under your shirt or outside of it.

I just looked up the dji mic 2 and it’s also compatible with the iPhones as well witch would also cut down the noise when you’re recording with your iPhone anyways keep up the amazing work ken

In my opinion right up close the camera microphone is still slightly better... But as You move away it's no contest Bluetooth mic is 1000 times better. Now second question inside or outside clothing... You were wearing a hoodie not a shirt it was a little muffled inside, but the incognito effect outways the small loss in sound quality. If indeed You were wearing a t-shirt? I don't think it would be any different... Hope my opinion is of some assistance. Thanks for sharing 🙏👍🍻

Here's a hint about bits in digital audio . The more Bit the greater the dynamic range . For example 24 bit 48khz the dynamic range is 144db . A typical CD is 16 bit 44,1khz which roughly equals to 96db of dynamic range .32bit of audio at 48khz for example is 192 db of dynamic range which is huge . Each Bit equals 6db of gain and the digital nominal level of audio to equal 0dbVU is -18dbfs ( or Decibel Full Scale) . As for the Khz ,that's the sampling rate meaning how many snapshot of audio is taken per second . In the case of 24 Bit 48Khz ,it's 48 000 samples per second .The higher the sampling rate the higher the audio resolution is going to be thus the more disk space it's going to take . Personally , I do live multitrack recordings of bands during concert and a typical show burns 40GB of disk space .

Yeah these are definitely situational. For up close the camera mic is better but if your distance is going to vary, you're going to be turning your head a lot etc the new mic is way better.

Your voice, through the microphone, has a lot more overtones and therefore has more depth and richness than the camera microphone. Sounds great
