Thanksgiving 2023

I’m always in super thankful mode every Thanksgiving but I was way more thankful this Thanksgiving. I was flustered and we pretty much should have taken a breather considering the events that unfolded days prior. I had everything set, including fresh flowers to get my tablescape done and filmed for KZbin after church on Sunday. Let’s just say I didn’t make it home till Wednesday. So this was an all hands on deck kind of Thanksgiving. We all worked together to get our dinner ready. The menu was simple. I didn’t have the luxury of time to bake my signature carrot cake so I bought pies from a good bakery and served it with homemade soursop ice cream 👌🏾All in all we had a great day with countless reasons to be thankful.

Thanksgiving has not been the same in my family since my grandmother passed in 2020. I had been searching online for videos similar to what thanksgiving was like in my family and could not find anything! Today I see this video and it literally brought me to tears. Especially the pie and board games. The food is different from what we had but the set up and showcase of love are exactly what I miss the most. Thank u for sharing you family moments. This is truly what life is all about!

Losing a loved one is painful and leaves pain that I guess is life long. I lost my dad 5 years ago. Every occasion, every milestone that pain resurfaces. Today my little brother graduated from college and as I spoke to him, I couldn’t hold back my tears. I’m happy to know this video brought you good memories of your beloved grandma. May she continue to watch over you and your family 🙏🏾

This was beautiful to see and African Thanksgiving. Because I wasn't familiar with some of the dishes that I saw. But I'm happy you posted a video. My husband fries the Turkey every year. We also had macaroni and cheese candy yams. Coleslaw, potato salad, Black Eyed Peas with smoke Turkey tails Green beans and potatoes,.cranberry sauce, cream corn, hot water corn bread, Dressing, mashed potatoes and homemade gravy and yeast rolls

Thanks for watching! I normally like to include a few traditional thanksgiving sides but I didn’t have the luxury of time. We’ve never fried a whole turkey before but we do love fried turkey. I need to eat some cornbread and candied yams sometime soon before I go crazy😄😄😄

We had turkey, fried snapper, lamb, barbecued ribs, oven roasted root vegetables, vegetable stir fry, jollof rice, kelewele(fried spiced sweet plantain) fufu and goat light soup.
