My name is Eric and I travel with my cats, “Tara” & “Opie” in a 24ft 2001 Ford Tioga RV named “Freeda” and tow either a 2014 Smart Car named “Tater Tot” or my 2012 Harley Softail Slim named “Black Betty” in a 6x10 trailer. We travel about 35 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round since 2010.

Pretty wild to see a bit of Galveston! Lived there in the 70’s and visited briefly in 1986, and there have been a LOT of changes: the Strand used to be empty warehouses except for their Dickens Christmas, no cruise ships, not many hotels, and fisherman’s wharf was a standup po’boy place and fresh fish market. They’ve really upgraded for tourists! I used to find shark’s teeth on the beach.

Your Thanksgiving Celebration was the best yet. Your family looks so nice. You all gave wonderful collections and I think that is where you get your collecting from, your Mom. So much family time fun and precious memories for all of you. We used to have pajama Holidays days and some other ones too when it was cold, snowy and blustery outside in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Awesome Thanksgiving with family. One of my best friends moved to Galveston so thanks for the preview for my next trip down there. I used to work about a block from where that Angry Cactus restaurant is located back in 1997-98 (I don't recall it being there back then). Next time you are down there look up Diego's Burritos on Sherwood Avenue. Best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Not something you can eat on the go, however, as they are messy. Most definitely not in Galveston.

Galveston is a really interesting place . The food looked terrific and the music was great. The beach is beautiful. My cat chickadee will steal the loaf of bread if it's left on the counter. She then takes bites out of several slices of bread. Opie let you feed the bread to him. Your family is terrific. Take care of yourself ,Tara and Opie.

Yeah the sprinkles held off in South Texas on Thanksgiving day but they're back today. Something you missed out on mentioning is Dickens on the Strand. That is exactly when Galveston glows in the winter

My dad's oldest brother has lived in TX for 60+ yrs. His wife died 12 yrs or so ago and about 5 yrs ago he moved in with his youngest daughter who lives in Willis, TX now. The first weekend in November is biker rally. The first weekend in December is Dickens on the Strand. Love New Years Eve at the Strand. Mardi Gras gets started in January

Now everyone will know from where you get your good looks - your mother.😂. Cypress is a great place to live. Did you notice that Galveston sidewalks are higher than the street - 1900s hurricane. Hope you go sometime to the Battleship Texas - the deck wood came from my family’s forest. Interestingly, George Mitchel & brother were responsible for renovating Galveston, founding the Woodlands and raiding my family’s Foster Lumber Company for the land which is now Kingwood, part of Lake Houston - George could be a quirky historical personage to seek out.

I was in Galveston from 13- 17 November when the cold and rainy front came through. Yuck! Boarded the Carnival Breeze and spent 4 days with the front following the ship all the way to Cozumel and back on the 21st. It's still raining there a week later. 😱

Fisherman Wharf has the best service, too! We make The Strand as often as possible. Love our impromptu "Let's go to Galveston! " trips from Orange, TX. Also love Nick's Kitchen and Swim Bar.
