I can see how this could play out. The Enternals had a civil war Mentor and Sui get busy have Eros and Thanos (figuring out how to reproduce) the Titans go nuts with it and over population sets in setting up Thanos' motivation stated in Infinity War.

Hey Rob - Don't know if you spotted a huge potential MCU link - Quantum bands (Nega-bands) = The Ten Rings *Shang Chi and the legend of the ten rings* - changed the rings into bracelets (bands) and had "The great protector" as the dragon (Makluans, Axonn-Karr, Space Dragons) Eon gave the quantum bands to the "Protectors of the universe" - they get their power from the quantum realm - which links into *Ant-man & The Wasp: Quantumania* Copies of the bands were made "The Nega-bands" which connected to the negative zone allowing Rick Jones and Captain Marvel (trapped in the negative zone at the time) to switch places which links into *The Fantastic Four* with the original 10 rings - they were said to contain the spirits of great warriors (protectors) - which could be used to bring in Quasar, Blue Marvel, Nova (Richard Rider), Thelius (link to *Eternals*) Eon is a cosmic entity linked to both Eternity and Yggdrasill which brings *Thor: Love and Thunder* and *Guardians of the Galaxy 3* into the mix meaning that this one shot comic has just connected most of the upcoming movie phase and provides a route for a group of characters to enter the MCU or its a tenuous red herring

The Official Write Up says ... The Eternals have a Extremely Low Birth Rate among themselves, having one child every millennium or so. However those Eternals who chose to mate with Humans often have children much more frequently, although these children will not themselves be Eternals. We know that Shang Chi is a child of 2 universes: MCU and the universe his Aunty lives in. We know there are 10 rings of power and 10 Eternals. What if his 10 rings are actually the reforged power cores of the Eternals from Shang Chi’s aunt’s universe. They are a beacon calling out for someone or something. What if they are calling Galactus or his herald Silver Surfer who reside in the universe of I can imagine Galactus is the last Celestial of his universe because he ate all the others and now needs to feed on planets just to survive. If he finds out there is another universe full of Celestials he will come to that feast quickly.

I don't think the Quantum Bands were merely ceremonial in that scene. They are probably going to be a relevant plot device down the line. Maybe they served as the catalyst for Thanos actually being born to A'Lars and Sui-San the traditional way. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out Thanos has a natural weakness to the Quantum Bands for this reason.

The 2000s did a Retcon... A Lazy writer retconed their origins. Originally the Eternals did not have cosmic powers. Kronus accidentally gave the Earth Eternals their cosmic energy Manipulation powers when an experiment exploded. The Uranians & Titan Eternals did not get these powers because they was off planet. Mentor Repopulated Titan with Thousands of Children he and wife gave birth to. Last two was Eros and the Thanos. Thanos is 800 years old btw. Eros is older maybe 900 years old. Mentor and Wife has been Repopulating Titan since before the Earth Great Flood event, of 12,000 years ago... Of all his kids, only Thanos had cosmic energy Manipulation powers like Earth Eternals.

They were not immortals. They were Long Lived. The had families, and new Eternals was born. The civil war broke out many died. Uranus Left Earth with his followers. In Space another civil war broke out. Uranian Eternals vs Titan Eternals. Titan Eternals got wiped out, accept for one... Meanwhile on Earth their was Multiple Generations of Eternals being birthed naturally. Kronus had a child that will called Mentor one day. Kronus performed an experiment which blew up destroying his body, and giving All Earth Eternals their Cosmic Energy Manipulation powers and Immortality. And they could still reproduce naturally. But they did so slowly. 1 kid per 1000 years usually. Mentor went to check on the Eternals who left Earth. He found a destroyed Titan Colony and one survivor. He married her and they Repopulated the moon of Titan with children over the course of a million years. Their last two children was Eros(Starfox) and Thanos. Both born around 800 years ago or so. You would know this if you read the older books from the 1970s, 1980s. You can read this in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition under the Eternal entry, Titan entry, mentor entry, kronus entry, Thanos entry, Starfox entry, Ikarus entry, Sersi entry, etc... But you clearly didn't read those books. It was never convoluted at all. The new Retcon is being done to dumb down things for the MCU film and people who only read the 2000+ Eternals series. Go read the Handbook entry online. Learn what Kirby wrote originally. Not the crap of the newer writers Retconing his works into.

While I like the idea of the MCU delving farther into the concept of Thanos being manipulated by Death and bringing it more into line with the comics I'm extremely doubtful they will do that. Marvel is adding both the Greek gods and the Eternals to the MCU in phase 4. Originally, the Eternals wasn't canon to marvel comics and was made to be a part of it later. This lead to the issue that the eternals are heavily based on the Greek gods and have similar or straight out the exact same names. Not to mention both live in mount olympus, what? The comics gave a half arsed explanation to it, hopefully the MCU can come up with a better one.
