I've had a lot of arguments about this verse and after studying through the Tafsir, the verdicts of scholars, the original Arabic meaning and also putting into consideration the many verses of the Qur'an which prohibit abusive relationships and enjoin kindness (e.g. 2:231, 4:19 and 4:36), it becomes very clear to me that Islam does not allow spousal abuse.

@Sven Andersson No, he does not. Even the most mainstream interpretations say that the measure prescribed in that particular verse (4:34) is not a "physical beating", but a tap, to symbolize the end of a relationship (basically something that doesn't inflict pain and leaves behind no mark or bruise, which in all common sense can only be a tap or maybe a light shove, if you get wild with it).

@Sven Andersson It's always been, if you look at the exegeses of the Holy Qur'an and most importantly, the example of the Holy Prophet. People just twist things around to suit their fancy, but that doesn't change the ethos of the religion, especially when it comes to marriage and marital relationships.

If men have right to intimacy and sex, so do women. The issue we have in the Muslim community is that intimacy/sex happens when man decides and not when women want it. The need to fulfil a women's sexual desires, is overlooked by men. It's always about men having their needs fulfilled ❤️

Salam, Regarding the right of the husband. What if the woman simply doesn't have lust when he wants to. If she forces herself it will be unpleasant, painful and lead to a traumatic experience. Therefore the woman will build resentment towards her husband and she will associate intimacy as something that she has to undergo otherwise she is being sinful. We cannot act as if rape didn't exist within marriage. My question is: what do you mean by a "valid reason" to say no when the very basic of intercourse is MUTUAL desire. Men bring up this entire hadith about the wife being cursed by angel if she refuses but we know deep inside that this leads to building fear within women and to prevent them from standing up for themselves (as an actual human being with a will) so they can be use as commodities by men 24/7.

Alaykum Salaam, The best way is to communicate. Discuss this with your partner (if there are no other issues and the overall bonding is good). Many a times, communication solves issues. Seek expert support. Both religious and scientific.

@@Thaqlain so you acknowledge that it is morally wrong to force someone into intercourse just because scholars have decided that it is a man's right to have access to his spouse's body whenever he wants? ( and even if you don't there is Law)
@Thaqlain
@Thaqlain 3 жыл бұрын
There are rights and responsibilities on both sides. And the side of women, it is compulsory for her to be available for her husband incase he desires her. On the side of men, it is disliked if he indulges in intercourse without making sure that his wife is equally involved and aroused. Better communication and expert counseling can make intimacy enjoyable. We will highly recommend you to watch other videos of this series -- with you husband. 🙂

Intimacy can mean holding hands, showing affection, kissing etc and not necessarily sex. What if a woman does not want sex and she feels obliged or pressurised, would that not be considered as marital rape? The hadith that talks about women who refuse husband when he wants his desires fulfilled, Angels deprive her of mercy, is problematic as it goes against be verses of Quran that say women have rights and treat them with kindness❤️

If I go with the sheikhs interpretation of the verse you can better call it as a MISTRESS NOT WIFE. A mistress doesn't do any cooking, looking after household affairs she only comes for intimacy that's all. Whereas a husband-wife relationship goes much beyond intimacy. Even imam Ali has told several times about how important is wife's obedience to husband. If wife isn't supposed to do any of the household chores and is only to respond to intimacy then a man is better off with a MISTRESS rather than a WIFE who needs more commitments despite of doing the same job of a MISTRESS. Then in that case there's no point in marrying at all!!!

@@Thaqlain but what about our imams didn't they know that a wife is legally not required to do any of that, when they explained the duties of a wife ?? Moreover then what's the difference left between a wife and a MISTRESS?? Then in that case there's no point in marrying at all

Islam has kept the life of women easy because she has been given a very important task to take care of: bringing a better version of human race to this world. That is why she is not obligated to do anything yet given tremendous rewards for doing anything. And it is from our Imams that women is not required to do anything as part of her "duties". However, we have added your question to our upcoming live session :)
@afshanfathima976

@@Thaqlain if she has to bring up a great human race she first has to keep them healthy by giving them home cooked meals , she has to raise the children unlike the sheikh who said that she's not required to raise children. At the end of the day she needs to do household chores in one way or the other if it all she wants a happy , healthy and wealthy family. And no imam ever said that women doesn't have to do so.

What i dont understand is: the verse says beat ur wives if they re not obediant towards gods law. Why? U speak as if the verse is mistranslated. A direct answer would be nicer. Under what exact situation should we beat our wives and how severe should it be? As far as i know its haram to give bruises. Thank u
@Thaqlain
@Thaqlain 3 жыл бұрын
The verse does not say to beat your wife if she goes against the law of Allah. It is in regards to those ladies about whom you have doubt about their sexual misconduct. Then too there are 2 stages prior to beat. And in that case too, the laws of Diyah will prevail. So it is for an extreme case. And there are many similar extreme cases discussed in Surah Nisa.

What are you on about sheikh, are you being threatened by your wife, or why do you feel the need of saying this stuff to us young men in a world where women's ego is at an ultimate high and you got feminists all over the place, men are committing suicide are being accused of nonsense, and what you want is put women out there let them compete with men she doesn't have to raise her children what kind of talk is this, you think this is the teachings of ahlul beit this is zahraa and om al banin is this rabab and zeinab what, it's not fair for men sometimes women crave sex more than men so a man's right is to have sex so that's what women are for just sex, no sacrifice no help no care just sex is this Allah's teachings, walah you are doing the same thing you say men took a verse from quran in surat nisa and said it's okay to beat women while you do the same, good job raising good mothers this way, it's all nonsense what type of deen is this walah you don't know what you are saying there's millions of ways where you could have at least made a little more sense.

Im sorry brother, you totally miss his point that the fact is your wife is not your maid. And therefore you should treat her with kindness and with respect, instead of asking her to do this and that with no manner and humility at all. Women out of love naturally will do all that. Its ingrained in her nature to make her house the best possible place to live for her husband n children . If you are talking about women who are influenced by the West then I have nothing to argue coz such women have forgotten their true nature, unfortunately.
