i have been in many thargoid encounters, and battled and killed many of them, but the sound they make at 1:30 still gives me the shivers. such cool sound design!

I lived, and I mean 'lived' the orginal Elite on the BBC B - a defining part of my childhood. Didn't even know Elite Dangerous existed, until today. I am not one to watse words, if I can help it but, this video BLEW ME AWAY!!! Have just sold PS4 to save for a Pro and now I'm doubly excited! This encounter was chilling! The lighting, the sound, the sudden dead instruments - Wow! Can't wait😀 Gonna re-watch...

I mean. I don't really know, but they've been teasing about alien life in the game for quite a while now. With some unknown artifacts and alien structures on planets. I would say it's pretty exciting things if we'll get alien life in Elite at some point

well it kinda is kinda isn't. yes, the average player will not run into this every other jump...but with so many players jumping all the time...well, role dice enough eventually you'll hit a 6. So encounters are being reported constantly

These encounters typically are reported in and around the Maia star system, as far as 150 Light-years away from that system in any direction; However some have reported these sightings in other areas as well.

Just travel with Guardians relics, or Thargoid stuff in your cargo, I think... It happens to me when carrying Thargoid or Guardian parts to or from Thargoid bases... It has happened at random too Other than that it is very random

Guathix Yeah, they do seem sumwhat organic don't they, which is another thing that makes them un Thargoid like. Thargoid ships were very basic and angular, hexagon in shape.

Desciplesgames​ That could be a red herring. The fact remains that it has still not been officially announced as to what they are to my knowledge. If they have and I'm mistaken, I'm happy to concede, provide the link and i will be happy take a look at it.

You could look it up yourself? Anyway it's still obviously a thargoid based on their description from the previous games. Organic technology? Check. 8 pointed ships? Check. The only race with the ability to interdict someone in witchspace? Check. Their frame shift technology resembles a portal of sorts? Check. All of these things point at thargoids. And yes, in the previous games they're shown as octagons, but that is such a small deviation from the shape they are that I'm surprised you picked up on it
