I didn't mind Girl Meets World. Since it was directly on Disney Channel and not ABC, I knew it would be toned down a bit tone wise. The first season was a bit awkward, but enjoyable and the rest of the seasons got better as the actors/characters grew into thier own.

In 1984 the US raised the drinking age to 21 again. It had fallen for a while to 18.. Also my favorite thing about this is that there isn't really a 1 to 1 replacement for each character. Jackie and Kelsos characters at the very least are split into 2 characters of the new crew.

I didn't see any of them as replacements to the old characters. They're their own characters for the most part.

With the exception of Jay Kelso and Leia Forman being the kids of four of the original characters. Leia is "half dumbass" according to her grandpa Red and Jay, well, he is a Kelso.

OK guys, nice reaction. I've binged the season a few times now to catch all the dialog and to see what's different and the same on the set. I'm 65 and grew up in the 70's so I identify with the original cast, but loved the new kids. Our own kids were this age in the 90's so I could relate to them. The new characters will develop their own identities with Red and Kitty as the anchors. Enjoy the season, I hope Netflix continues the show for more seasons and maybe more episodes per season. Remember Leia didn't arrive until July 4th so She was only really there for part of the summer.

Different states implemented the 21 and up age different years. Louisiana was the last state to do it in 1997.
