Hey Ho! Dad Guy! This writer commends your purchase of the Kona; and the video. You will learn to LOVE this EV! Its the smallest of the EV line up from Kia et al, which borrows many parts from the more expensive EVs. This keeps the price sensible. You will enjoy it starting on a cold day, and the low down weight makes it a joy in snow or ? weathers. For the record book, this writer owns a 2019 Niro EV, the next size up EV from the Kona. After 03 yrs of EV driving you could not GIVE me a gas car to drive. You will soon feel the same way!

I looked at the Kia Niro for a while and decided the Hyundai Kona was a better fit for my needs and the trim package has a heat block for the batteries for better winter conditions here in Canada. Glad to hear you are loving your KIA though

The new kona is actually bigger than the Niro, although not by much

I keep a small Swiffer in my glove box, every once in a while give the interior a quick ‘Swiff’ and helps keep the dust down. Just saying :)

interesting new vehicle. If you are not charging at home, what do you do while waiting for your EV to charge? Thanks for the video.
@thatdadguy19745 ай бұрын
Before I had my home charger, I plugged it in at a charger close enough to my home I could walk home. On the couple trips I took with my brother we plugged in at our destination to walk or get something to eat and it was ready when we got back. It has not been an issue so far. Now that I have a home charger even less of an issue for my regular weekly use. Thanks for watching

USA EV driver here with more information on this topic. Let me offer examples from my longer experience with commercial chargers. On most of my trips I plan my charging stops around lunch and search for a latrine. On another occasion, I was chatting with another EV driver and he saw my domino set in my EV. We passed the charging time with several hands of dominoes. The EV charging 'family' is, in the main, more civil and friendly than what passes for 'common' today. Example: I was reading Tolstoy while charging. A new, with temporary tags, EV pulled in next to me. That new EV owner had near ZERO idea or experience with Commerical chargers. I offered some help, and that gladly taken, by the new driver. Try ANY of this courtesy at a gas pump and see how you fare.

Hi just want your opinion if kona electric only cost $5000 more than Atto 3, which car would you choose?
@thatdadguy19745 ай бұрын
I’m afraid I have never heard of an Atto 3 so I am unable to give you an informed answer.
@Ovationhabs3 ай бұрын
Atto is not available for sale in Canada. Probably won’t be for a long time if current attitudes towards Chinese EVs in North America prevail in government.

Electric cars are great, congratulations on the new car! but I don't understand why you have to use your own car to deliver the mail. Here in Germany the post office provides the delivery vehicles, cars or bicycles. How is your car insured if you have an accident while at work? Have a good and safe trip!
@thatdadguy19745 ай бұрын
Thank you. Here the Rural mail carriers unfortunately have to use their own vehicles and have special work insurance. The urban carriers all use Canada Post vehicles. Maybe one day we will be like them

Great video, great car. Here in the UK all government incentives have now gone. Used to have a government incentive for home charger installation but that was removed, same applies to purchasing an EV, no government incentives. On the plus side our energy companies offer cheaper overnight electric tariffs specifically for EV owners which is useful and popular. Enjoy your new car 👍
@thatdadguy19745 ай бұрын
Oh that is very interesting. I wonder if our electric company will do the same. I think the incentives won’t last here as more people buy EV’s so good time to get one. I am really enjoying it so far.
