Back in the early 80’s, my grandpa ran a t post through his new 1460. Made a hell of a racket! It came out the back curved like the concaves with one side shaved off. Only damage was a broken sickle section. We still have the t post in Dad’s barn.

I like how you keep your positive attitude during times of adversity. I guess if farmers were not optimistic there would be much less food available to feed a hungry world. We are having the opposite of you this year. After an extreme drought last year we got lots of moisture this spring. The dry land farmers are having wheat yields 50% above normal. Irrigated folks got delayed in planting spring crops so harvest is later. In my case the hard red spring just ripened enough last week. I got one set of trailers cut then we got 4/10” of rain the next day. Was able to bale straw yesterday, but too wet to combine or bale the hay that was almost ready before it got wet. Oh well, I guess I will have some time to make some minor repairs to the old 1460 so it can chew through the tough wheat straw better. Only planted 120 acres, but it is thick, going about 100 bu/acre.

harvest 2020 our neighbour picked up one of those metal T post, ran it through the combine and straw chopper blew it out, through the windsheild of a passing trucks through that guys chest and through the back of the truck then landed in the middle of the gravel road. quite a police investagtion on a lonely country road, ussally get 20 farm trucks go by a day, turned into hundreds of city folk checking out crime on the farm.

To Welker Family 👪 ❤️. I'm sorry that this years crop wasn't as productive as it could been. 2022 has just been an awful year for farmers and people in general. However we just got to look to God and trust him 🙏. Sometimes it's hard especially when things aren't looking up. I've had to work on my trust issues with him. Last month I got covid and it wrecked me bad. My digestive system is crap I've been to the doctor 3 times for my digestive and acid reflux issues. And I've been to the hospital twice so far. Not to mention I also have had vertigo issues as well. So the last month has been crazy. However I know God will get 🙏 me through it I just have to trust him. That's what need to start doing is trusting God. We may not understand why he does what he does. However there's a reason. Well I've preached enough take care Welker Family 👪 and God bless 🙌. 🙌

I had a fence post go thru a 2388 a few years back and punch a hole in the bottom of the fuel tank. I don't honestly know how it made it past the rock trap.That was in soybeans. Then the same year, doing corn, same combine with a Geringhoff chopping head on it, ran an electric fencepost (a round one, not a t-post) thru the #1 row unit on that head. That Geringhoff Rota-Disc head chopped about half of that fence post in 1" pieces before it finally got caught somehow in the snapping rolls and wrapped a full turn around the outside roll before it locked that row unit up. I hate fence posts. They are from an era long gone when the early settlers had livestock. And yet I have a feeling they will still be coming out of the dirt 100 years from now and getting into combines.

I really feel for you guys. I drove a combine for over 40 years in the UK and had 2 years when the yields were terrible. One year was due to disease and the other due to a storm that laid the whole farm flat and I mean flat, before it had chance to fill. I would wake during the night wondering if I had the machine set right. I'm praying for you all may, God bless you and keep you. I've been a subscriber for quite a while and like the videos a lot

Thanks for another great video Nick. Most interesting. Wow. A fence post ran thru the combine. Oh my my my. I obviously could not hear that noise but from what nick and leg arms showed us that had to be one bad bad bad racket. Wow wow. Last I knew combines were not designed to handle fence posts. I am so sorry guys. Wow. Thanks for the drone footage. Was great to watch. Brings back the farming in America feeling. Thanks. That fence post really torn up the combine insides. All of you are very skilled at putting it back together. My compliments to each of you for making it work again. Marching across those hail fields and seeing zero bushels registration has got to be hard. But all of you march on and do your best. I have one hundred respect for you. You simply make it work. Bottom line you all make it work. My compliments gentlemen. There are a lot that would just fold. But with my compliments the Welker family farm just continued on. Way to operate guys. About it for now I guess. You all take care and be safe. Stay away from the fence posts, little bit and I mean a little bit of humor. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything nick and bob and leg arms. The Iowa farm boy. Steve. PS. This old man is some better but a ways to go yet with this nasty covid. Your videos sure do help me get thru it. It's always disheartening when so much seems to break in such a short time, it seems to come in waves on our sod farm here in Nashville Tennessee, but it's farming, so we except it and always push forward even when it seems like there's no end in sight. To me it's not just farming it's a way of life and what makes farming so rewarding. To a true farmer, nothing is impossible, where there's a will there's a way! Amen! I share the look on your face and the feeling when you know you've broke something knowing it's going to cost you, not only money but also time and effort, or should I say your back neck legs and arms and sometimes more Lol! You know what I mean? For me sometimes cost me an hour or so late at night soaking in a tube of hot water for my tired achy bones and muscles.. sheesh! I think all this resonates with most farmers. Lord willing all your hard work will amount to something good in the end. By the sweat of a mans brow must he now put forth his hand and eat. God bless you all!

My drone hits about eight feet up on the shed, or backs into a tree at about 23 feet up. But, it was a good hit and tumbled all the way to the ground. Cost me two propellers and the embarrassment of an audience but did not have to climb or cut down the tree. And my vocabulary was drastically limited by the age group of my audience. BUTT, I did learn not to mix propellers from different manufacturers on the drone. Amazing how much damage all that whirling stuff in a combine can do when eating rocks and metal fence posts!! I'd bet the sound of that can almost stop your heart.

@Brobro4492 жыл бұрын
You guys NEED to buy stripper headers. Changed my dads cousin operation dramatically. Also our one guy we hire to help seed canola said they don’t have to scrub the ground yet get just as much seed as if they ran a Draper and scrubbed the ground. The biggest thing aside from hitting 500 rocks is the amount of straw the keep for the winter to hold snow
@SomeTechGuy6662 жыл бұрын
Stripper headers lose a lot of grain. Just run the header higher. With continuous cropping, you need to control straw. You can't leave it 18" high after harvest. It helps to cut it shorter and put it through the combine.
@Brobro4492 жыл бұрын
Huh interesting coming from some one tech guy. They don’t have the opportunity to leave 18” of stubble when there crop is only 10” high. Also the point of leaving the stubble is to catch snow is the winter because they get almost no moisture. They can easily seed into that. We had guys direct seeding into 3 feet high corn that got hailed in July
