Leg arms skills are saving the farm HUGE mega bucks on outside repairs. What a talent to have
@brianenglehutt12412 жыл бұрын
Leg arm always crushes it! That's defiantly an uncommon drum, looked like an old budd style with super wide brakes. I wonder if a regular budd drum with narrower shoes would have worked. If so could go with more common sized drum and shoe combo on all the wheels.

It is interesting to me, that the youthful exuberance that was part of many of the earlier videos seems to be gone. What i am seeing is the hard work of running their business under great financial uncertainty. There is a level of stress evident on all of the faces and attitudes that suggests that there is a lot more to this than just enjoying day to day farming. This whole family is reflecting what all of us are going through. It is good to see this. It gives all hope in the knowledge that we are all in this together, regardless of the experts and their statements.

Bob, thanks for the history lesson on the land and these water holding areas. Most interesting when talking back in the 40’s and 50’s. You have a great knowledge of the land and it’s history. Really enjoy your history lessons. Thanks Bob. Did not see Colby. Not riding today?? When you folks give us an overview of your seeding and number of acres and time it takes to do the job, it makes us in Iowa with 500 to 1000 acres look pretty small. Just unbelievable the number of acres you cover to put the crop in. Just wow, when we plant for a three day period we think oh boy look at what I did. Where with you , you are just getting started and cover many many more than we do. Interesting difference!!!!!! About it for now I guess. Trying not to be long winded-ha!! You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Good luck with your seeding and no breakdowns. Thanks for everything Welkers!!! The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

I know this is after the fact, but I always wondered why brake hubs could not be turned back into spec after getting a layer of weld put on the old surface? As an embedded systems engineer, I agree. But to be fair, there isn't any real way to accomplish all of what he does with the variable rates and stuff without all of the electronics that makes it complicated. John Deere just seems to not do enough testing on their products. Regardless of how complicated the system is, it shouldn't fail that often unless it's still in testing or is something custom.

@@thelunatick1993 Getting hit with spring storms every week and finally a derencho or tornado taking out your yard and grain storage would tend to put most farmers in a dour mood, even Zack. Every week the cost of inputs is going up but every day of delayed seeding at this time of the year means lower average yields. An early fall frost now could be disastrous. They put 10s of thousands into a planter but as usual on the first day of seeding nothing works properly. Expensive new equipment is not supposed to break down but it does. And it can be really lonely. There are reasons that some farmers tend to complain.
