Almost induced tears. Ann was very sweet to help that child.

Christopher Shea did the voice of Linus in the Peanuts!
Originally telecast on December 22, 1966. James L. Brooks later reused the title {"Christmas and the Hard Luck Kid II"} for his December 19, 1970 "MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW" episode.

The title of this episode (Christmas and the Hard Luck Kid) was written by Jim Brooks. A few years later, when he was producing The Mary Tyler Moore Show, he wrote an episode where Mary has to work alone at the television station on Christmas Eve. Brooks used "Christmas and the Hard Luck Kid" title for the MTM show.

Featuring Mr. Marie, the psychic father who knows a call is incoming before the phone rings, and written by Jim Brooks, who later co-created The Mary Tyler Moore Show and wrote an episode of MTM entitled Christmas and the Hard-Luck Kid II.

I was about to mention the same thing: the phone did not ring. I've only seen that editing error once before in any TV show (the pilot episode of Ozzie's Girls in 1973).

Ann's father picked up the phone before it rang. Was he psychic, or did the director call "action" too soon?

Having been a cook since I was 12 years old (I'm 70 now), I can't imagine that all she fed this kid were jelly sandwiches. At least he got some turkey or roast beef at the end.

Not really a nice episode, no wonder why there are parents in old people's homes and their kids don't go to visit them.

I agree, no matter what commitments you have parents should arrange to have their kids with them on certain occasions, it effects the children even if they don't admit it.
