This perfectly captures I had the feeling I had when I watched QI for the first time: "What is the color of a blue whale during a full moon?" Alan: "Blue!"- klaxons go off, everybody laughs. Somebody: "Which moon?" Sandi answers with a story about ancient viking tax law, "And the correct answer is of course, that there is no such thing as a fish". Taskmaster has those moments too: "Build a gothic cathedral using a pot of cooked spaghetti and this stapler. Include a mural of the taskmaster on a horse. The mural with the meanest eyebrows wins. Time starts now!" "ONLY the cooked spaghetti?!?" "All the information is on the task!"

@cfytcf6 жыл бұрын
It was, until the 1987 revision of the rules. Many a game was tipped in favour of the sneaky player who deployed "Numberwang" in the final few seconds of a round. Some people still play by the pre-1987 rules but it's a bit pedestrian, with none of the verve the modern game has. People just need to move on.
@85set056 жыл бұрын
@@cfytcf I'm tired of you insufferable pillocks. First of all numberwang is superior and secondly nobody "changed the rules" the tenaki index was simply updated to keep in accordance with linguistic trends and developments as it always has. Playing with an last generation index is perfectly fine, especially if it is a family gathering with the grandparents. Expecting anyone thatbis not a professional above the age of 70 to crunch words according to a index that due to the rapid shift in culture can no longer take much consideration to the wangerts they grew up with just feels like a cruel joke.

Are the Greenwich Rules still applied to Wordwang or do they default back to the standard Georgian Set used in Numberwang?
@J4Seriously8 жыл бұрын
+Resvrgam Yes!
@NotAnAveragePerson8 жыл бұрын
+Resvrgam I've found that it really depends. For example, most televised versions of Wordwang ditch the Pochard's Preposition (of course coming from Numberwang's Joker's Crown) along with most of the Yorkshire Rounds from the Greenwich Rules, so that the game runs much faster (despite the fact that the second player can easily win with a Deject, putting them ahead for the entire game as long as they don't play like an ass afterwards). However, in professional play, the Greenwich Rules are pretty much universally used. Some of the older players still use the original Gregorian Set from when Wordwang first started, but by and large, the Greenwich Rules are still used. It's also highly used in non-casual Wordwang, though, for as much hate as I get for this, the Boston Pitbull version of the rules is much better if you're playing casually with a friend who hasn't heard of Wordwang. The rules aren't very good, but they simplify a lot of the more complex ones (like, really -- who understands the Jovial Sundial on their first outting?).
