Sorry but the 'm' word (which I would never utter nowadays) really was the everyday term for black/white biracial identity. For a few years in my late childhood/early adolescents I hung out with mainly non-white friends and even the ones who were black/white called themselves that, including my first two boyfriends. It wasn't until about a decade later that it started circulating that the word came from "mule" so the offensiveness of it became clear.

It was the 80's, Prince didn't get real big till 1999 and Purple Rain albums, even though he had a few album before those. So it looked like, he came out of nowhere. Interviewers back then, had to ask questions like that. Mainstream interviewers are now more PC and won't ask if someone is a flash in the pan.

@@sharonfrazier2460 , as did many white people knew who Prince was during the late 70's. Prince was on American Bandstand, with that famous interview with Dick Clark. The show that Apollonia was on, wants to ask her about her ties with Prince. The female interviewer gets a list of questions that the producers want her to ask. She has to ask them or it's her job could be on the line. One of them, was about Prince being a flash in the pan due to his blockbuster success, that he didn't have in the earlier days. It's a stupid question and insulting to ask his protégé. But I understand that it's showbusiness. Celebrities get asked ridiculous questions all the time.

@@chrissytina6379 I believe the "nuttiness" being spoken of is referring to later and more current days wherein Appolonia did some interviews sounding a bit nutty and making far out claims about having authored some of Prince's biggest hits.
