Life too short for long KZbin videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
If you’re looking for useful information on guitar sounds, this is not the video for you!
What it is is a glimpse at what it’s taken to get TPS’s new headquarters up and running. Wow. It felt like we were never going to get here… and we very nearly didn’t! It’s been two solid weeks of long days and late nights, and I’m typing this very sentence some 2 minutes before the video is scheduled to go live at midday GMT+1. Which it probably won’t because KZbin is chewing on the processing. But all that aside…
We're just about moved in to the new place. We threw the cameras and lights up an hour before filming… we finished building the shelves three hours before filming, so what you’re seeing is us sitting down and hitting record for the very first time.
Day one, video one. Don’t judge us too harshly as we still have plenty of tweaking to do!
Expect us here and working with something more informative next week!
Please enjoy the episode…

This is a great video. Mainly because it shows how much you care about these videos and this channel. That's always come across in your delivery, but getting this insight into the work that goes into making this channel as great as it is was really impressive. I also usually watch your shows on an iPad while I'm cooking etc, but on the rare occassions I get to watch it on our TV (like last night), the production values jump out and make the shows even more impressive. Thanks for giving a shit, and validating the geek in all of us.

Big rooms with a lot of natural reverb can be a great effect for recording, but for the purpose of video demos I think the drier the better. That way we get the most accurate representation of the tone from pedals, amps, guitars, etc...

Bravo on the new space! It looks and sounds great! A few quick observations: - I really like the new lighting! - The sound is good! It's very clear, but there seems to be some bass resonance going on. - The back wall and the shelves look really good, however I'd see if I could do something to hide the truss columns. - The yellow guitars look awesome now against the grey background. In the old space it was yellow on yellow. The yellow on grey really pops. Also, Dan, I've been meaning to say this for a while,... your guitar playing is just at a new level these days. I'm really enjoying it. As a long time TPS watcher I can tell you've put a lot of work into your playing. (And Mick, so you don't get all jealous, I've always enjoyed yours.) Bravo guys! Good work!

Thank you Gary - we’ll learn and evolve as we go, but this felt pretty good straight out of the gate!

CONGRATULATIONS! To you both (and Simon) for getting set-up so relatively quickly. If I might make a suggestion as a former photographer, the black theatre cloth, blue/grey colour on the wall at the back, and even the carpet, are all so dark that they are absorbing a hell of a lot of light. It is just my preference, but I would rather see less of the "moody" look that Mick mentioned (specifically, those harsh shadows, especially on the left side of Mick's face, as viewed from the camera's perspective). So, perhaps throw a reflector, or diffuse light in there, and also maybe put some more light on the back wall?

Thanks for the feedback. Some more fill light is deffo on the cards. We are at the mercy of KZbin’s encode as well - the file we upload looks quite different! So it’s do and learn. :0)

What an effort you guys put in... Absolutely floored! I just raised my pledge on Patreon by 10$ to help you cover a bit of the costs. I hope that more people will do the same, so that we can keep you guys going :)

I can so relate to your new room project, having done my living room way back in the day. Can also relate to starting a song with a drop D tuning when it's not supposed to be dropped. Congrats on your new room. Keep up the great work.

Brilliant chaps. In many ways, this vid sums up why The Pedal Show works so well. Great chemistry, interesting, informative, useful and amusing info conveyed in a manner that is neither patronising nor too technical to deal with. And that's just the about about building shelves.... Seriously, good stuff. Congrats!

Fantastic video. Knowing what goes into the production of the show just makes your work all the more impressive. We all appreciate your efforts to help us build up our finger callouses and empty our wallets. :) Love you guys!
