It's why I go a little easier for these kinds of comics. More than half of these guys had no fucking clue what they were doing, and probably lacked some of tools they needed to actually write it well. But then there's some stories you look at and wonder how in the fuck anyone thought it would be okay from square one.

This was the first and only time we hear of Little Africa. In Nova Scotia there’s place called Africville which I think was founded by Freed Slaves. Somewhere in Alabama they had a similar sounding area, but yeah that Little Africa section in Metropolis sounded way outta place.

i actually bought the issue that punisher "turns" black, from a used book store, when i was like, 12? i think? also here in brazil i think this issue was released with a spider-man story (in brazil i think its customary for comics to be a compilation of issues, not just a single issue thing), i wasn't a punisher fan, but i was (and still am) a huge spider-man fan, so imagine my surprise after reading a nice spider-man story, and then there's a punisher story, i read it, it looks fine, i turn to the last page, and suddenly, black punisher. i think that's the only issue of punisher in my comic collections siudhsiudhsuidh

I think you're understating a bit when you say he the Punisher was "All the Rage", I can't really overstate how popular the punisher was in the 90s, at one point managing to print 3 separate comics at the time (The Punisher, Punisher: War Zone and Punisher : War Journal), so when MARVEL wanted to print a new comic it wasn't unusual for the protagonist to have a team up with Frank to bring attention to the character to make the most amount of people possible curious to pick up their new series, still, Im pretty sure they could have just make Frank and Luke team up without changing his skin color. Then again most people have forgotten that 20 issue Luke Cage series, but even 30 years later people are still talking about that time Frank was made a black man, so maybe they were hoping the controversy would boost sales or something.

Dude this is kinda ironic, but I also found you from your Black Lightning video and then got suggested this video. I think these two videos are amazing but it would be so ironic to see your channel end up focusing on racial issues. Then again, I would love to see more videos on this subject and you cover it really well. Going to check out some of your other stuff, but I'm not really here for individual comic breakdowns. I'm not really a comic book fan, but I am into the nuance history stuff on the subject and your content there seems very thorough.

If you haven't already, look up the issue of Superman where he fights the racist villain, "Bloodsport" (the white version). I think it came out in like 1993-1994. It's insane! He later fights the black Bloodsport in a boxing match and they both end up dead.
