One of the few ocassions that Andre is leading out of the blocks. This definitely means he's progressing and getting back to his form in Tokyo. Interested to see what time he pulls out in Paris.

@@quentin1016 I think if he stays on this path of starting better and finds a way to pair it with his closing speed, there isn't much doubt that he can beat the national record in the 100. 200 I don't think there's much to say about because he's already in good shape in that regard.

The commentator is right to question him 10.01 is slow compared to his 9.79. I would at least expect a 9.90 but he won so I gotta give him that.

The times were slower because it was 61 degrees (Fahrenheit) and raining. Those are awful conditions for sprinters! The bigger cause for concern is that Omanyala has only had one Diamond League victory ever. It's telling that he doesn't run great times outside of Kenya. Why? He runs at altitude there, and it makes a significant difference. Baker looked good and is coming back into form, which has seen him have the 3rd most Diamond League victories of any sprinter since 2018, and that's with missing 2 1/2 years with injuries. Only Coleman and Simbine have more.

Omenyala runs fast in Africa at windy, high altitude tracks. And then returns to normal when he runs in Europe.

@@Kharrison1966 nah. the rain makes no difference on a synthetic track, and they all warm up. you'd expect some slightly slower times due to temperature but he's supposed to be peaking for the olympics and getting faster. he ran 9.79 at massive altitude and with a very decent wind so convert that and you get 9.95. this was +0.8 so you'd expect a 9.95 AT LEAST here. 10.01 is going backwards. based on this, he wont get through the semis in Paris

@@dapperdank3701coming from a Jamaican. I ran 12.8 seconds in the 100 in 7th grade. And with a time like that I was bang average just in my classroom. Didn't even make a sports day team. The average Jamaican male between ages 18 to 27 can easily give you 12 seconds. Because I did it at 11 years old and wasn't even close to the fastest kids in my area. By the 9th grade I had a PB of 11.43 and I was still the slowest of all my 5 brothers (I'm the youngest)and other than myself, none of them had ever tried a sport. Anyways It's in the blood man

So my question to the commentator is does the race mean less if it is run on African's soil? What makes Omanyala's times or races more legit if it is run in Europe? People should really watch what they say, cause they end up sounding racist. Congrats Omanyala.
@AthleticsEditz
@AthleticsEditz 10 күн бұрын
Maybe if you did your research before playing the racist card, you'd know why the commentator and others would say that. Every single time that Omanyala's run under 9.8, he's done it at altitude, usually in Kenya. Running at altitude makes a big difference as the air is thinner which makes it easier for sprinters to produce fast times. Others who have ran fast times at altitude include Lindsey and Tebogo in the 200m this year (19.71 for both of them in to a massive head-wind, but the fact it was at altitude almost cancels that out). There's no racism involved, just facts which you haven't bothered to look at.

Attitude give them a .2 booster So his base line run 9.79 9.90 this run went 10.01 basic time ⏲️ average So he's really a 9.85 max runner at peak so his level will drop to say 9.95 runner at peak consistency

Try ua best to increase your finishing top speed, dont look at others n assume you will defeat them...target 9.90 in paris. Todays race was very slow to win any medal at paris Olympics
