Right. If they are judging the too fast start, they are judging people's motives. The assumption is that the racer was anticipating the start and simply gambled correctly. They use the clock to judge someone's motives and that is just... Feels like terrible sportsmanship on behalf of the rule makers.

@@CalvinHikes No, that's not it. The human ear cannot hear sound faster than the speed of sound. So they add that time (.1sec) to the time the gun goes off. Any start BEFORE that time did NOT hear the gun start and therefore should not have started.

So they're penalizing people for reacting faster than what they think the fastest reaction time should be which is ludicrous when your trying to find the fastest person on the planet.

It’s never made sense to me..some American was disqualified in the last Olympics for that. They start too fast after the gun. There needs to be a specific wait time and if you don’t wait long enough after the gun you’ll be disqualified

He didn’t. They have this insanely stupid rule where if you start within a tenth AFTER the gun they call that a false start because they didn’t think people can have a reaction that fast and so assume they’re jumping the gun- even if it’s after the gun. It’s an appallingly asinine rule

Some of these sprinters like Yohan Blake or Trayvon Brommell, have had muscles and tendons torn completely off during races. You can't even walk after that let alone run so shut up.

@@Tugga-zv5ur It was a crazy fast and close Olympics where even last place ran 9.9 while pulling up with a groin injury (Oblique Seville). Jacobs's 9.85 would get a medal nearly every year but even Simbine's 9.82 wasn't enough to medal. Great race by everyone.

Not one sprinter going against Jacobs has ever ran a sub 10 second 100M. In the sprinters world this is a very slow field of runners. No wonder he won, he should win.

The Germany Man needs a Start!! I ran a bit for a German Club while in the Army back in '79 along with another Sprinter named Lester Washington. Lester was Sprinter Number One and I was getting my legs together. Had a nice tie and felt I was coming back until I tore my knee up! GOD BLESS!!!!

from 5 to just before 7 seconds Ali and Jacobs were stride for stride then Jacobs just kept powering on, his knee lifts are insane compared to the rest of the field. Clearly an indication of Elite amongst the elite. Great race tho! I was hoping the German would have shown out like he did in the semi but he seemed a little nervous at the blocks.

Y'all have got to move on from them. Running 9.7s and 9.8s is not easy. Remember how often each of those runners dealt with injuries? Bolt suffered from injuries in his last two seasons and struggled to get under 9.9 comfortably. The world standard for the 100m is 10.0, which is incredibly hard to get. If this new era of men's sprinting is not for you, don't tune in.

Some women and men are struggling and some people are doing their best to save their peak time performances for the 2024 Olympic Games. It's not good to max out a few races before the Olympic Games; especially the Olympic final. Bolt is the overall best as of yet. Let's see what happens.
