Prince's dancing was a small part of his skill set. He was a top tier guitarist, bassist, drummer, pianist, singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and composer. There was/is hardly anyone like him. He was a phenom. There's videos on KZbin of Prince best guitar solos, Prince best bass solos etc. Maybe that's why it felt disjointed to you because you haven't seen the full picture of who he was.

Prince always wore heels. Even though a lot of this didn’t look choreographed to you a lot of it was but at the same time he did just what he felt. He rehearsed all the time for his concerts. The splits were his signature move. He did them for about 20 years, then stopped. It caused him a lot of hip pain. Prince ended up taking pain killers and got addicted to them. That resulted in his untimely death when he unknowingly got pills laced with fentanyl. Prince was a great artist. He played so many instruments. He produced his own albums and others. Wrote songs for others too. His first 5 albums he wrote, played all the instruments, did all the vocals. After that he did collaborate a little more and let his band mates help out, but mostly still did everything. You should check him out. Live he was the best. I got to see him twice. Best concerts ever..

Prince was so free on stage different from every pop star. Prince never wanted to fit in with everyone else. That's what i love about Prince more than any other artist. MJ also didn't create the moonwalk. That's been a dance in the Ghetto's way before MJ'S time. Even MJ stated that in a radio interview & you can find the origin of the moonwalk on youtube. MJ just simply made it famous to white people. My personal taste, i think dancers like MJ did the same routine for their entire career. Pop artists do that to be safe. Prince could care less about "safe" Not only that but Prince was an incredible Guitarist, bass guitarist, pianist, drummer, lyrcist, dancer, sing any note, engineer, producer, writer. He was the best! Please react to Prince Piano compilation. It's from that same channel 🤗

You're right! The moonwalk is an old tap dance move. Check out the Nicholas Brothers, Savion Glover or Gregory Hines.

In my opinion, Prince had 'em all beat. Elvis, MJ, James Brown, etc. His performances were next level. He could play any instrument he touched, and overall, he was really a clean, decent guy. He was very much in touch with his feminine side, yet secure in his masculinity. Women worldwide love him to this day.

Thank you! I've been telling reactors that rising from a split is so much harder than the actual split! I had 6 years of ballet with a little bit of martial arts (years ago) and doing that is extremely hard, add heels! Check out his triple bouncing splits on Little Red Corvette video. He was not strictly choreographed, just his band and dancers. He did rehearse a lot. No springboard! I did PR for him in the early 80s, been on a few of his stages.

I feel sorry you. Prince was a unique and incredibly amazing performer and musician. I was fortunate enough to see him live a few times. Such a loss.😢

You are watching live concert performances. His large gestures and moving around the stage helped engage the audience in large arenas. If he stayed in a small area and did a choreographed routine, it would be harder to see from far away. His concerts were amazing! That man could put on a show! The way he directed the band and choreographed even the "unchoreographed" portions... Nothing like it and no one like him.

Yeah, while there were some choreographed sets (like with the Game Boyz during the Special Olympics set or the early Arsenio Hall Show appearances), you're not going to see Prince do some big dance troupe number like a Janet Jackson video or K-Pop thing. He mostly used dance as one of his many ways to shape a performance: grab a tambourine, improvise a riff on piano, do the splits, whatever...same diff. Go with the flow, and give the show what it needs in real time.

Prince was like no other, him live was the ultimate musical high. Prince at the end of the day isn't for everyone. I still haven't found anyone close to this Genius.

It's musicians playing live. It's not fake or overly produced. You're watching clips of a WHOLE performance, which he is know for giving some of the best in history. Do a live performance reaction.

A lot of it was choreographed and some of it wasn't. If you want a performance thats a mix of both i recomend 'A Love Bizarre - Prince & Sheila E. (1985)'
