The Rules for this Campaign are:
- Dead is dead. When I die, the campaign ends.
- Full realism settings. Only the external camera is allowed for filming purposes
- Manual Targeting
- No recognition manual for random merchant ships
- Attempt to abide by the historical orders in regards to the London Naval Treaty, Operating Procedures and Restrictions

Just remember, a dud torpedo against a lone and stationary target is better spent, than against the largest ship in a convoy whose destroyer escorts will bare down upon you all the same. Great series, engrossing even!

Man alive it’s been a while since I’ve played silent Hunter three. I enjoy watching. I have since stopped, playing the silent Hunter series whenever U-boat came out, but the silent hunter series was still my most favorite submarine simulation. I noticed you were mentioning the mines. I remember the mines are used to be sailing along off the coast of England, underwater, and all of a sudden, my U-boat would just explode and the first couple times it happened. I had no idea that it was because of mine and then I figured out that if I paid attention to the external view underwater, I could spot the mines before I hit them lol. So many good memories of this game, I only wish I would’ve had all the awesome mods and updates for games like SH 34 and five. I wish someone would make another game like silent Hunter for but as good as U-boat because I would like to play a better simulator in the Pacific campaign with American subs sinking Japanese ships silent hunter 4 was awesome but it would be nice to see one produced as the same quality as the U-boat game. Anyways, what are y’all‘s thoughts? Would you like to see an American World War II sub simulator remake?

Yeah, a modern day SH would be awesome (SH5 doesn´t count due to the god awful programming, and UBoat doesn´t count due to the stupid design decisions)

The funny thing is that I've learned more about tracking and setting intercept courses, working the Uboat to make it do what you want/need it to do, and loosing the Eels of Explody Doom in this series than I have watching any other videos and/or playing on my own. It really should make the next time I fire up the sim a whole lot more interesting. When I finally get a chance to sit down and get to it. Though I will miss the narration when I'm playing. You're really doing a top-notch job with that as well.

I love how you found a paddle steamer, and it was still cruising at the fastest speed of any merchant you've found so far (IIRC)!. Also tricky decision on that last torpedo, yes maybe a waste on that lone steamer, but with how often they malfunction also a potentially large waste of time to find and track a new target if it fails.

I wonder what would happen if one closed to point blank range and shot a few of the star shells into the ship... One would have to be close so the shell hit the ship before it ignited. I've never had cause to try it in any of my SHIII games.

i think you can use the start shells as incendiary shells you just have to get super close like a few hundred meters

silent hunter has always been my favourite out of the sh series, 5 looks great but not worth it due to it randomly crashing & then loosing all hard work & saved progress, plus if i remember right no crew management in sh5 which can really influence your game, great to watch a different type of tactics as i also watch wolfpack 345 or taff in exile

Yeah, the crew management can become crucial. People can actually loose their lives.

I do remember the deck gun in SH5 being better at least with wolves of steel mod installed and not using sight stabilization, also the deck gun took alot of time to turn so much that you can't keep it on target at maximum rudder, it was hard to use, you had to account for the rising, the scope swinging up and down wildy in rougher seas and fall of the boat and match speed and course with the target when safe to do so.....i can see what ya mean about being gamey.

Yes, the Deck gun in Sh5 TWOS required you to time your shots as the boat was rocked by the waves.

Great episode tonci a paddlin in more ways than one! Is it possible to search ships in Sh3 like in Uboat? Only real advantage the latter has over the former as it did happen in WW2 with the Admiral Hipper and Hilfskreuzer

Oh Inspections. No unfortunately that does not exist in Silent Hunter. It would make the early war much more interesting

Hey, thank you for this super series ! I’m running the Black Sea campaign with the Type II ! I have a question about the Just Follow Orders mod. What have you done to make it work with the OneAlex ? And do you think I can add it while running a patrol ?

Only add it while in port. Never change Mods while you are on patrol! I had to edit the mod to make sure that the charts appear in the right place, and in a size that makes them readable. See the pinned messages in the OneAlex Discord, You´ll find a link to my edit there.

is it bad i always used to sail back to Germany with either one or two torpedoes still on board? one for bow and one for stern depending on how far i'd have to sail through hostile waters if i was somewhat close to germany just keep the stern tube loaded and if i saw a target on the way closer to german water i would engage it and spend the last of torps, i was thinking about protecting my crew and making sure germany had u-boat to reload in the first place.....wonder how much trouble i'd be in from a disapproving flotilla commander.

Returning with one or two torps is fine since t that point your combat effectiveness is limited anyway. The safety of your sub and crew is paramount.

I will say that the gunnery logic for the AI makes no sense....you sailing on steady course and speed you and land a hit....the target is holding speed on course and speed yet the next shot goes wildy off target but you get hits sometimes when your U-boat is making a course change which is strange due to the rate of closure changing, i wonder how much crew experience level with improve this inaccuracy
