Not only was this the coolest cop show past & present. But Jack Lord was born to play the lead role as head of this amazing series Hawaii five o. He was the the smartest coolest cop by a country mile. There will never be another R.I.P Jack Lord 30-12-1920 -21-01-1998.

Yeah, the later Hawaii-Five show was ok. But still was not up to snuff compared to the original. Also, always loved Steve being dressed always in Suit and Tie. You never saw that on the later show. Should have at least kept the suit and tie dress code. In my opinion anyway.

Mark Lenard as co-starred in "HANG EM' HIGH!" which was also a Leonard Freeman Production, the creator of "FIVE-O"!

It's what he says and how he says it that makes his character so memorable. If you don't believe me, watch it again.

Classic McGarrett indeed! There were so many classic lines here: "From now, every time a body turns up with a hole in it, I'm going to haul you in, and I'm going to keep the heat on you till you drown in your own sweat," "Next time, there won't be a try. It's going to be murder one and I'll make it stick. That's a promise," and hurling that suitcase of money at the door. I never saw that one done before! Thanks for sharing this.

HAWAII Five-O is just THE UNTOUCHABLES set in Hawaii. Everything McGarrett did, ELIOT NESS (Robert Stack) did FIRST. His dynamic nature, his unhinged hatred for criminals, leading a squad in incorruptible crime-fighters, all came from THE UNTOUCHABLES. Ness had RICO. McGarrett had DANNO . Both had racially diverse squads. Here's the CONNECTION: Hawaii Five-O's creator, LEONARD FREEMAN, was the Executive Producer on the Final Season of THE UNTOUCHABLES .

Listen to this clip again and pay attention to the music as the scene ends 1:57. Those opening notes are the same as the opening notes to Star Trek

Jack Lord got offered the role of Captain Kirk before William Shatner. He got too greedy, so that didn't happen.
