I recently watched the first 4 movies & and realized that when you do that that's Ripley's worst week of her life because at the end of each she goes into stasis and then she wakes up in the next one so it could be like a day later from her perspective

Not quite true. There's a sizable time jump at the beginning of alien 2. Long enough for her to get a new job and apartment. But yeah, 2 and 3 are definitely back to back, and 4 is a weird resurection plot, so it may or may not count depending on how you look at it.

@@KohuGaly even if it was the "worst week ever" for Ripley, at least people in cryo "dream" while they're under. Although... it's also kind of canon that the alien leaves some kind of psychic trauma with people. If it's really psychic or just overactive human nightmares, idk. So then again... after the first movie, she's floating around for 5o years or so with her own dreams. Possibly own nightmares, but she's a tough woman, so idk if it ever really got that bad for her. In the second move, she did have that one nightmare, but it always felt isolated to me. Like a once in a while ptsd. Idk.

Despite the frankly criminal underfunding the arts have in schools, my Highschool Class somehow earned permission to do the musical _Chicago,_ and did a performance so well-put-together that a reviewer from new york said it was on-par with broadway performances.

Oh wow! That's fantastic! That must have been an awesome experience for all of you. My son's middle/high school has a really strong theater program. It's one of my son's favorite things to do! They usually put on a musical and a play each year, so it's a really tight schedule. I think everyone should have a chance to act in a play in school sometime during their studies.

After the play ended they gave one of the space suits to Adam Savage, and he was awestruck with how closely they recreated it with the glass dome of the helmet being the only thing that wasn't repurposed trash.

Ah, that was the story behind that suit! I missed that one detail so I thought he bought it from some enterprising cosplayers. Now I love him even more, with him being genuinely annoyed at how good a job they did, compared to him who spent a tidy sum buying a casting of the original (and obviously loving their product much more simply because it was a labour of love and ingenuity)

He has made a 100% accurate suit himself too. He has said he tends to make his builds too big initially and have to shrink them down several times before getting them right, but their helmet was almost the exact size of the original, only a little smaller. And that was the only helmet they made and it's so detailed.

I couldn't stop laughing out loud at the Prometheus premiere. When they sliced her abdomen open for the Alien baby, stapled her abdominal wall back together, and then had her sprint down a hallway, I lost. That was Sharknado logic in my head. Just pure comedic fantasy.

First time I saw that, I was clenching. Because I was expecting what we'd get to see, would be like one of the best horror twist on that sort of consequences I'd EVER seen. Like... making the sprint, but the staples give, or something. And the last, most horrible threat is surviving the monster, only to need to drag herself BACK into that dang machine or bleed out. Nope~ That was... way too logical and good set-up & pay-off, I guess?

I would argue that the best thing about Alien Covenant was the reveal trailer, where Take Me Home, Country Road played over picturesque footage of the colony. Then the imagery becomes more twisted, the music becomes more distant, then there is just "Run," on screen before some shock footage from the movie and then the title.

I’m surprised they haven’t put this on in theatres around the world, I mean who wouldn’t go see it! I went to Alien: War when it was in Glasgow in the 1990’s and that was amazing. The studio provided costumes from Alien and Predator. An amazing live experience/performance. I wish that was still a thing as well.

I can’t remember the specifics of it, but I know there was ALIEN experience in London around Ripley’s Believe It or Not! sometime in the 2000’s. My dad always reminds me about it, specifically the moment a Facehugger fell from the ceiling into my Godfather’s lap and his scream being so funny they could not stop laughing for the rest of the experience.

this is a perfect example of why IP laws need to be more permissive in all sorts of ways. We SHOULD be able to make adaptations of the stories we grew up with. It doesn't diminish the IP, it only enhances it.

@@jmurray1110 I won't go that far. Copyright IS important to have so that the people who make our culture and entertainment are able to live in the society they contribute to. Without copyright an author has no protection from the public taking their work. However, copyright should not be a way for immortal citizens (aka corporations) to hold monopolies on the creative works of a society. My personal preference is 25 years from creation with another 25 years if the creator dies before the first 25 years are up (so that the work can support any dependants the creator may have acquired during that time until they can support themselves). Then, of course, there's trademarks and fair use which ALSO need overhauling... 8)

The Alien 3 dog to me has one caveat that wasn’t considered. When the Alien grew from a predator it took on its traits but the Alien 3 dog never displayed any canine behaviour, since dogs are the goodest boys surely being part dog would dial down the Alien’s racial murder boner

In the directors cut (best version of the movie) the alien is born from an ox they used to drag the crashed life boat to shore. There is even a royal face hugger. That thing carries two embryos. One a queen and one a normal one to defend the young queen.

I actually heard about this yesterday while watching a video by corridor digital, they had gone to visit Adam savage at his work shop and one of the things he brought out to show them was the helmet for the space suit, then he told the whole story behind it when he also brought out the other helmet made by those school kids.

Such an easy way to get around the copywrite of this. Disney just says “it’s on our you tube channel or one we own” they get all the ad revenue and in the description is a link to donate to the school. Everybody wins. We get to watch it, Disney get money on a channel called Disney fans, which features fan made content, and people can choose to give the creators money.

Yo. These are the kids that gave Adam Savage a helmet they made. It was so good and legit close to how they even made the original helmet. They used tires from model kits in the original helmet on the inside. And the kids used the struts from model kits for the outside details of the helmet.

As a former set designer and prop maker for drama department, never underestimate the will power of a thespian to put on a good show 😂. We did dog land in my school and we had to build a muppet style puppet that looked like the main actress playing the girl, it was very fun to come up with.
