I saw them at the Richmond Coliseum with Sequence, Funky Four plus 1 more and the Sugarhill Gang. Flash did the same routine and it blew my little mind.

Excellent commentary and cast..I used to do a little DJing and emceeing back in the day..lol..Grandmaster flash and the furious five was the epitomy of the rap game back then..Flash was probably the GOAT on the wheels back then in my opinion..The routines with Melle Mell and the crew were crazy..Introducing the crew you got see to believe we're 1,2,3,4,5 emcees..

Love this story reminds me of the first time I saw Cold Crush brothers at the Stardust ballroom with my friend Jose. Grandmaster Caz looks out in the crowd and spots us and says “I see two Puerto Ricans in the house” that’s was one of my best Hip Hop memories.

We saw him at the Fresh Festival Tour in New Orleans, 85. It was the first time we'd seen a DJ mix with 3 turntables. He did the The Adventures Of Flash intro and just started cutting it up. It was a little weird to us not seeing Melle Mel though. We caught them the following year and that was weird too. Anyways... Great Story and a Great Moment through HIP-HOP eyes.

😂 I saw this same show in Cincinnati, Ohio. I remember those little pause steps they were doing😂🔥🔥💘 The Funky 4 were on the same venue with those Levi jackets and pants with The Funky 4 artwork on them. We went right out and made "Fresh Crew" Levi jackets for The Disco Duce✊🏾. The All City Rockers of The Queen City. Hip Hop is undeniable and Awesome!

Great story..especially you being 10 years old. I saw them in 1981 in Chicago when I was a kid when they opened up for Switch, Cameo, the Bar-Kays and Con Funk Shun. We was pissed because here in Chi town at that time when hip hop was young we didn't know about turntable-ism, scratching ect.. They were touring off the the success of "Freedom" which was burning up the streets. We were still very into Funk and the Funk bands ruled and thought "Grandmaster Flash" as we called the whole crew..were too cheap to have a real band and had a dude up there playing records.lol Even tho the MC's tore it up. It wasn't until later that year when Blondie and Funky 4 plus 1 were on Saturday Night Live with Grandmaster Flash on the tables that the whole thing clicked and made sense to me.. Then I was pissed at myself that I didn't even realize I was witnessing a new movement in person and didn't even realize it.

I remember that Switch,Cameo,Barkays, Confunkshun lineup. I caught it here in VA. That was DJ Breakout - the Funky 4's DJ on SNL. He did resemble Flash.
