Episode 4: Journey to Kanniyakumari: Embracing the KTM 390 Adventure
With the sun rising over Kodaikanal's misty hills, we bid farewell to its serene beauty and set our sights on our next destination: the southernmost tip of India, Kanniyakumari. As we embark on this leg of our journey, I find myself in the saddle of the KTM 390 Adventure, ready to embrace the thrill and agility it promises for the next three days.
The KTM 390 Adventure exudes a sense of excitement as I twist the throttle, its powerful engine roaring to life with a surge of adrenaline. With its lightweight chassis and advanced suspension, the 390 Adventure feels nimble and responsive, eager to conquer the roads that lie ahead.
As we make our way towards Kanniyakumari, the landscape unfolds before us in a mesmerizing tapestry of colors and textures. Every twist and turn of the road offers a new adventure waiting to be explored.
The KTM 390 Adventure handles the diverse terrain with ease, its off-road capabilities allowing me to navigate through gravel paths and uneven surfaces with confidence. Whether carving through winding mountain roads or cruising along coastal highways, the 390 Adventure proves to be the perfect companion for the journey ahead.
As we approach Kanniyakumari, anticipation builds in the air, knowing that we are nearing the southernmost point of our incredible expedition. The KTM 390 Adventure continues to impress with its performance and agility, reaffirming my decision to ride this Austrian powerhouse for the next three days.
As we arrive in Kanniyakumari, the sight of the confluence of the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Bay of Bengal fills me with a sense of awe and wonder. It's a fitting backdrop for the next chapter of our adventure, as we explore the cultural richness and natural beauty of this historic landmark.
Join us in the next episode as we immerse ourselves in the sights and sounds of Kanniyakumari, and continue our journey southward along the coastal roads of Southern India. With the KTM 390 Adventure leading the way, the thrill of discovery awaits around every corner.

Great series guys! Thanks for the hard work! That would have been so much fun! There is no way you can do any off road without bar risers on the 390! I own a 2023 KTM 390 Adventure and there are days I love it and days I hate it. I came from a nice comfy Vstrom 650XT and sold it wanting a lighter more off road capable adventure bike. Its been great on the back roads, twisties and in traffice filtering, but highway is not very nice at all. I even tried a Givi Airflow (which I had on my Vstrom) but on this bike it has very bad buffetting. Anyway lets see what the 2025 390 Adventure will look like 🙂

What a great adventure! I'm envious of you guys! As much as I like KTM that Himalayan is tugging at my bank account. They are taking pre orders for early 2025 delivery, NZ$8990 for the basic model and up to NZ$9490 for the two tone with gold wheels like you're riding, sales tax included. If I do get one I'll be telling Royal Enfield to send you the commission!

Across India the Chai tastes different in each state. So far for me the best chai is the irani chai from hyderabad and kashmiri rose tea. The interesting thing is all everyone uses is Milk, tea powder and sugar. Except Irani chai I still haven't figured out why it tastes different in each state. Maybe the soil reflects in the taste of the milk ?

Honda parallel twin to a single RE? I waited for the new Himalayan for 2 years. Did test drive today and it was a bit of mess. The levers, footpegs etc very flappy, vibrations (but ignorable), mechanical sounds overpower the silencers sound, what you hear more is the tappets and other engine noises, not the exhaust, it sounds broken but it's not😅. Plus the switchgear quality is questionable and weirdly placed, a bit hard/wierd to reach (ignorable as you use it more). Many more minor issues. The Triumph was perfect though, except the instrument cluster, it is absolutely trashy and dated. Do test drive before buying the Himalayan.

@@thatbikersimon please do try the kove 450 also . As it is the closest to the unicorn motorcycle idea. If kove 450 had the CF Moto 450 engine it would be the perfect do it all motorcycle. Do be careful on our roads . Don't trust PPL's ability to cross the roads as woman ,children, animals are somewhat predictable they will look the other way and have a stroll with no care even if your are charging down the road they won't look at u ,old men on moppeds are the ones to look out for they will jump from the middle of the road so hold 120kmph don't go beyond that for too long . You are in fine dust environment so clean or replace the air filter every 3000 km if you can . If the brakes are not good enough Moto usher in Bangalore(Karnataka )has EBC EPFA 606 HH pads and rear sintered pads are also there try both of them ,I think two of ur bikes have the same type of calipers try these front pads (do clean the disc with 600 grit sand paper and do the brake in procedure) and enjoy, the Himalayan has a different caliper design. Coconut water is excellent for reducing dehydration don't drink more than three coconuts a day ,you will shoot out from ur ass like a fire hydrant. Enjoy. Always start at 5 AM so that u don't get burn out and u don't have to deal with traffic.

@@thatbikersimon be safe have fun. I think you have missed a lot of historical places. Try them out it will be intresting. In Chennai we have St Thomas mount resting place of Thomas disciple of Jesus and in Kerala u missed the oldest church made before Britain even knew about Christianity 57AD or so. Try and see if you can trace before Europeans white washing of Christianity and after . By the color Jesus in the paintings.

Question: Could you guess-timate the average & max speed, roughly on the trip?
@thatbikersimon

It does very quite, and a faster pace than what we would normally ride because of the distance covered. But I wouldn’t have a clue to be honest

found your channel and love it. I like your humorous approach in your comments. so good to see you guys having so much fun by traveling. i´m a honda guy, but switched last year to a bonneville T120 and love to travel with that bike, although its not so comfortable as my honda vfr but his high-torque engine is simply addictive. greetings from vienna.

The twisties are the best part of any adventure tour. And the KTM really shines in every terrain. The one you have the SW(Spoked wheel) variant, has adjustable suspension all around. Good content btw. Ride safe ✌️

So pleased to hear your opinion on the KTM. Today I visited my local dealer and sat on one, fiddled about, as you do. Liked it, so, next is a test ride. Might have to follow in your tracks as I was last in India in 1984!
