Hey! I've recently bought a 450 MT, and I must say I'm very surprised with how good this bike is on the trails, one thing that people never mention with this bike is, that it comes stock with a 140/70 rear tire but you're meant to put on a 140/80 (it's on the original document) , do not change the front sprocket! the tire size diference is more than enough for you to feel the difference on highway revs and not loose torque on the trails! the suspension gets even better after a few weeks of riding! I took me at least a month to break in my suspension and it's really good now. you don't often get a bike that's this cheap and so well built, it feels light, you can adjust preload, compression and rebound, tubeless spoked rims, it has foldable mirrors, adjustable wind deflector, the abs/tc button is great, you don't even have to stop to turn it on/off and so much more tech that honestly you don't need but it's great to have. I have friends with T7's and they were blown away by this bikes capabilities, it handles rocky trails so easily that you sometimes forget that this is an adv bike. For those who want to hate this bike because it's made in china, google is free don't be ignorant.

How do you think it stacks up against a xr650l or dr650? Is there a lot more off road comprise in the mt450 our is it getting into unicorn bike territory?
@eu-od8wi27 күн бұрын
@@johnstone9670 in my opinion those bikes are great off-road but I’m not sure how comfortable you’d be on long rides. there’s always pros and cons with both options, a newer bike has so much tech that sometimes an electrical issue can leave you stranded , usually I’m way more inclined towards classic bikes ( simple and more visually appealing) so buying a 450mt for me was kinda going out of my style, I’ve done some changes to make it look cooler. But yeah this bike can take it all, it’s an offroad oriented adventure bike. I think it could definitely become my unicorn with a few mods, nothing too serious, I need a better seat and I might even get a power kit someday ( it doesn’t need one ) but I’m very curious on how much better this bike can become. It takes a beating no problem, easy to lift if you drop it, incredibly nimble. But, I always recommend people to go for a test ride or two! I did 3 😅 My opinion is a bit biased obviously because I’m really happy with it, been having loads of fun off-roading and I’m already planning on a Morocco trip next year, I’ve recently installed the mitas trail xt+ and the bike really became more alive on the dirt I hope this wasn’t too confusing, English is not my first language

What really annoys me is how close they get without actually hitting it, as well. Honda alone has two directions they could come at it from, stick wire wheels and longer-travel suspension on the NX500 and you're basically there, or stick the 500 engine in the 300L Rally and you'd have a more off road-biased but still competitive bike there too. You can come up with similar stuff for a lot of companies, so many things that are almost what this is, but either too slow or just a few parts swaps away from being off road-worthy enough.

Finally some decent options in the entry level ADV space. It's just a pity there's only 2 & none of them are from the big 4. The 400ish cc range seems to be the hottest bike segment at the moment, but the most compelling models all come from manufacturers in China or India, and none of them touched the ADV space until CFMOTO's 450MT (IBEX for the Yanks) & RE's Himalayan 450 were recently announced. And it's an easy choice. Want a modern ADV with all the bells & whistles then go for CFMOTO. Prefer a more vintage looking bike that hearkens back to the earliest ADV's then the Himalayan is for you. Kawasaki better have a Versys 450 up their sleeve for November, otherwise they're going to lose what little market share they have left in this segment.

I've watched several reviews now but nobody seems to be talking about the elephant in the room...gearing. From what I understand, it spins at about 5800 RPM at 100 kph, or 62 mph. That translates to about 7500 RPM at 80 MPH. With an 8000 RPM redline, running it on the highway at 80 seems like too much. I love the idea of smaller, lighter and less expensive, but without reasonable highway capabilities, it falls short as a true ADV bike, at least here in the states.

I just keep waiting for kawasaki to put the new 500 engine in the Versys x300. Dont get me wrong, the 300 is fast enough for a bike that weighs 385 pounds, but it has no torque or power until you hit 8000 rpm.

If the Himalayan 450 had a twin cylinder (285⁰ crank or a 315⁰ crank for the noise )engine similar to the cf 450 and weighed 180 kg (165 kg for perfection). It would have been the best ADV.

@burddog0792 nah, the AJP PR7 fits the bill, but it's a pretty niche bike, so does the KTM 690 if they would just build a more adventure oriented version of it... it will happen.

@@lorenzotelleria4200 I assumed you were talking about a twin. A 690 rally/adventure would be awesome.
@burddog0792Ай бұрын
@@NMAdv A 690 ADV off the showroom floor would be a good bit less than building one up on the aftermarket. And yes, the price of the base bike justifies what you get, but that's why they won't make a 690 ADV either, because while it would be lighter than a 790/890 R, it would still be a niche bike with a price around $14k 690 still makes sales because it fills the void from no one else making ~650cc thumper super dual sports.

It is accurate. The delta is in the angular deflection caused by the height of the scale, which is pretty low and gives about a 1% less than true reading. So 450 pounds is maybe off by 4.5 pounds. I think the actual scale and its calibration and sensitivity would be a bigger factor in the total error value.

This thing seems really good but man, I just can't wrap my head around buying a Chinese bike. It's not even so much real concerns about reliability or anything, I just can't help feeling that I'd never stop looking it and thinking "maybe I should've bought a Honda instead." Admittedly it doesn't help that I seem to be one of the few who doesn't like the Ibex's looks at all, it's way too Gundam for me, I'm much more of a fan of the new Himalayan's old-school looks and that's something I AM genuinely considering buying because I like it so much despite having similar concerns.

ADV riders are like 80% highway and 20% trails. 50HP doesn't seem enough for the road and the weight seems too heavy for the dirt
@bwlyonАй бұрын
Spit, ahmm, I mean Spite, I think you hit the nail on the head. While maybe a little more power coming out of the corners could be better, when you get it off road it starts to make sense. While there is no perfect/unicorn Adv the folks at CFmoto are trying really hard to develop and deliver one that comes pretty darned close. We can talk about the weight all day, but realistically the only way that happens is with much more expensive materials. At the end of the day, what we have is a really, really good Adv, that checks a lot of boxes at a price that won’t break the bank. In my mind a person can buy Ibex 450 and thrash on it, if it gets a few scratches and dings on it who cares, it didn’t break you when ya bought it. These are good times we are living in, at least in the motorcycle Adv market.

Damn i really want this bike, but the biggest doubts i have is, how these things held up after a few years, and if parts are available after few years. Japanse bikes you know you can find parts for the bike. And the last doubt i have. Is how the value holds. I saw one second hand cf moto online that was 2 years old and it seller was selling it almost 3k less then de new price. And bike had 3000km on it. So that is a pretty drop on the price. So im really trying to be patience here. And i want to wait how these bike will held up, and what cf moto will be after a few year.
