Correction: At 05:30 if Shaheen does two df+1s in a sequence, he'll be able to block Claudio's Powercrush in time for a -12 block punish, unless it's slightly delayed. Generally PCs lose out to compact moves like df+1, as covered in the next video in the series on the Crush System: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6fRdaOwlNGge6s

Decent video, but I think you need to focus more on sidestepping after performing a wider variety of attacks. Furthermore I think you should focus much more on sidestepping to setup a launch whiff punish. Also, I think you are focusing far too much on counter stunning rather than block punishing.

Still a lot of technical language, usually in move notation. Like, WTF is a magic 4? Keep saying it like it's self evident.

@@brandonbrown6922 Magic 4 is when the neutral standing right kick gets a launch when it counter hits. These are usually very fast, 11 or 12 frames.

These are some of the most helpful videos I've seen. They make decision making seem far less daunting. Lacking full understanding of the intricacies of the game, it can seem bewildering trying to figure out what to do. These videos are kinda giving me a little more confidence in what I'm doing when I go into practice mode and try moves out in real matches. The game is less complicated than it seems, while still being technical enough to be satisfying.
@ThatBlastedSalami7 жыл бұрын
Reading a comment like this is a big "Mission Accomplished" for us. We've all been there, bewildered by these massive movelists, how to approach the game correctly, and what kind of mentality to adopt. Tekken's a bit of a grind to get into at first, but so rewarding once you "get it". We hope these guides make climbing those initial hurdles a little easier.

This video has shown me a glimpse to how hard it will be to menage playing both T7 and my other fighting games (mainly GG) as I can now see some huge differences in game design that lead to a whole different approach. Also, the way you quoted Novriltataki made me smile as I love both of your channels because of the same reason: how clear you both are for learning :)
@ThatBlastedSalami7 жыл бұрын
I think once you understand one fighting game, picking up another is much easier. But yeah 3d fighters do require a different mentality. Novril's channel was actually one of the big inspirations behind this one. He's a very cool guy. Often gives me useful feedback on videos and suggestions for future ones. You may even see a collaboration at some point ;)

I cannot put into words how proficient these tutorials are. Well made, very helpful and structured clearly. With all the editing, cinematic and information displayed on screen it makes the video engaging, captivating and coherent. Definitely the best guides I've seen on youtube, I could watch these all day compared to most other guides which have me clicking out the video prematurely due to how unorganized they are. Such a blessing to have videos like this to explain the mechanics of such a labyrinthine game. I really look forward to all your future Tekken 7 videos.

The term "taking turns" is misleading but I can see where it's coming from. The more the frame situation is in your favor, the more valid options you have as the next action of choice, and less valid options the opponent has for the next action of choice.

As a 10th dan kazuya player who has fairly extensive Tekken 5 experience (though limited to non-existent Tekken 6 and tag 2 experience), this was an EXTREMELY helpful video. To my experience, sidestepping was horribly unreliable (getting tracked by hits that reoriented mid-string) or simply getting hit by the move anyway. I thought I was getting the timing wrong. This video helps a lot, especially the tip on which direction to sidestep in. Now a whole new dimension should open up with ss -> ewgf for me. Thanks bunch for the video!

Great video! Although I will say that tekken, in my opinion, is somewhat of a turn based game. An action such as side stepping is taking "your turn" and is a commitment of sort. Albeit it is hard to notice "taking turns" in this game due to the fact that you can move freely on the plane. Unlike SF and MK.

What about in the middle of a fight? How does it occur to you "ah, I can punish that"? As a beginner I'm finding myself getting destroyed by moves I don't expect to string together, or moves that end up having quicker recovery (?) than I would expect when I'm trying to punish.

How many minus frames on block is too much to be unable to sidestep? In the vid you showed a move with -1. Would you be able to sidestep away if you did a move with -8 on block?
@ThatBlastedSalami7 жыл бұрын
Good question. It depends on the move you're trying to step, but generally: -1 to -3: Ok if done in the correct direction -4 to -6: Case by case -7 to -9: SS likely won't work
