I loved Mortal Kombat Deception's method of teaching you the characters by having you play as each one throughout the story- including a tutorial for their move sets being part of the story. It outright showed you their long and short combos, grabs, style switching combos, and the value you would get from each style. The helped you learn the strengths and weaknesses, timing, and variety of each character while not making you go out of the way to learn something

2:43 I wouldnt use jacks f+2 as a poke, but I am sure you are aware of that. Jacks 2 is his jab which I would still use even though its 1 frame slower than a normal 1 jab, because f+2 is more of a panic move instead of a poke as its unsafe on block. The part in the video could be confusing because people might think they now need to use f+2 as a poke.

I only started playing tekken 7 a few days ago after stopping at tag. I didn't read any move lists. I just tried different button combinations. I am currently at about 12 different combo's for julia. I don't know any of the names. I've named them shit like "mid blow to uppercut", "toe kick to double mid blows". I'll see how it goes in a month's time when I try to do my first online match in any game, ever lol This was helpful though, for strategies. I already have a few combos that start with the move types you mentioned. Will have to watch this video a few times though coz I know none of the terminology lol

@MatronMugrai5 жыл бұрын
Wow, this is absolutely fantastic for new players! I've decided to learn Xiaoyu, so learning stances is going to be vital in the end. But seriously, you explain things in a way that makes it easy to learn and even start understanding. So many communities just say 'learn this, learn that, don't listen to XYZ player, just play the game' and it's infuriating when I don't know where to begin and I'm asking specifically for a place to start learning. So, finally understanding wherr to begin is great, I'll try to incorporate RDS first because it has many uses and AoP seems great, but limiting at the same time... It's something I'll want some experience before actually learning how to use. So, again, thank you for explaining in a way a newer player can learn from, instead of just saying "lol scrub, why aren't you cancelling moves yet?"
@giulia13614 жыл бұрын
Don't worry cancelling moves is hardly a necessity. Also Xiaoyu's AoP is great for mixing people while they are down or simply its good for her okizeme. AoP also crushes highs and some mids, meaning that stance can evade moves.
@MatronMugrai4 жыл бұрын
@@giulia1361 While I happily agree with you and have heard similar from others, starting small is definitely the way to go. I've also just heard from a lot of long time players that you need to learn cancelling because it's a pro level skill to be able to use. My logic is: you can know the best combos, but if you can't land them or use them efficiently, you aren't learning anything. You need to learn before you know.

Nice guide I must say, but correct me if I am wrong. Feng b4 is more of a tracking move rather than a homing move. For all the no0bs(respectfully), difference between both can be understood from this subreddit by GCNCorp in /r/Tekken "Tracking is something a move can do just because it's animation can be quite sweeping, or it's just because for whatever reason a move can be harder to step in one direction. Like Dragunovs D2 tracks well because of the sweeping chop animation, and Jack's df2 tracks to his right well, because it's his right arm. Homing is a specific property of moves that's programmed into the game to consistently beat side movement to both directions. Like your big roundhouse sweeping kicks, these have white particle effects and are designed to hit side movement."

This guide is very detailed. But... You forgot the most important aspect of Tekken. All newbs learn this video by trial and error, when they play long enough, they just learn to use this move for long range, tie these two moves and your opponent can't retaliate the second move etc. The real joy of Tekken, is when you realize that you have to tie moves with movement and to not be predictable with that. This is an online guide, but it doesn't help for more serious players.
