Hearing stories like this always takes me back to a night in college on New Year’s Eve. I was in a college town. Walking home alone, and a man in a car pulled over asking if I wanted a ride home. While there may be well intentioned men out there, you never know. So I said no, but he followed me for a while, and once I knew he couldn’t see me, entered my home. You. Never. Know. Ladies, don’t risk it.
@beekneed Жыл бұрын
You did the right thing. No man should offer any woman a ride anywhere, ever. If he has sincere concerns for her wellbeing he should call the police and give them her location, period. If he wants, he can wait in his car until they get there. It doesn't matter if he's "a good guy" because the point I'm making is that this is what good guys should do, always, if they (or any woman, for that matter) are concerned and want to follow through. My husband and I saw a young woman stumbling along a dark street in the college town we lived in. After a brief "should we or shouldn't we?" conversation, we slowed and I asked her from the driver side window if she was okay. She was clearly extremely intoxicated. Fortunately, campus police were located less than a block away, across from our house. We called them. To this day I still feel bad about stopping instead of just calling. Just because. We shouldn't have given her the option to make a potential gravely dangerous decision. I too had walked along that same quiet street in my college days and sometimes feel the chill of regret for doing that, myself. No one, man or woman, SHOULD have to worry about walking alone at night. If something bad happens to them, it's not their fault but the fault of the piece of shit who does it. Still, I wish there was more awareness among young women about the real dangers they face. Stay well xx

In his confession to police at the end, he said he left his credit card buried in the grave with her. When asked why, he said he didn't WANT to get caught, but figured if they found the body, then he deserved to be caught. So he left identification. Because of this statement, I think he may have sent that text to her the next day (knowing she was dead) because he unconsciously wanted to be caught and find redemption for his crimes. I'm just speculating. The other thing too is, sometimes the murderers or attackers insert themselves into investigations on purpose because they want to find out what the police know. Or they want attention. There are probably a variety of psychological reason, some may not be done intentionally. But the whole leaving the credit card behind thing, makes sense with him also sending a text to attract attention to himself. He was spiraling out of control.

It's an interesting one, though. You have to establish the person's baseline - that that's not something the individual does anyway. Clearly, in this case it did mean that, but the two movements not matching isn't always an indication of deceit.

That's harder to distinguish because sometimes people nod to affirm their answer. It depends on their baseline, because there are people who say no, mean no, and nod to say "yes, the answer is no", and there are people who don't. That said, another possible red flag is the lack of contraction. Again, it depends on their baseline, but it's common to say "did not" instead of "didn't" if you're lying because you think it sounds more sincere.

Ladies, please don’t lose sight of each other when you’re going out and PLEASE don’t get into a car of someone you don’t know, no matter how nice or normal they seem.

Some of my best adventures have come from meeting new people and going to after parties. People shouldnt just stop doing that because something like this sometimes happens. Id say if youre a female, be cautious and take a friend with you. If the guy is nice and chill and normal, he shouldnt have a problem with bringing the girls friends too. Be suspect if he seems hesitant to take anyone but the female.
